Are you an Al Khamsa breeder?  Then this
little mare might look a bit familiar to you.
She was featured twice in the 2003 Al Khamsa
Arabians Directory, and will be one of only a
handful of Al Khamsa horses whose photos are
to be featured in the new Al Khamsa
informational brochure
.

"Maya" was only started seriously under saddle in 2002, but
she has such a gentle, willing manner that she is picking
everything up very quickly.  Our trainer is confident that she
would give us her heart if we asked for it.  She is intelligent,
level-headed, and curious about everything.  She has
discovered that her favorite game is "chase the cow".  She
seems so intrigued by the fact that whenever she walks
toward one, it moves away, and she can make it go wherever
she wants it to.  Imagine that!  She has flowing, comfortable
gaits, and the legendary Arabian stamina.

During a recent visit by a good friend from
Switzerland, a dressage rider, I found out just how
smart Maya is.  She had never been asked to do some
of the things Beth asked of her, and Maya stepped
right up to the plate and gave her exactly what she
wanted.  I was, needless to say, very proud of her.  I
kept saying, "Wow!  That's my horse!"  Every time I
think I know what she's capable of, she surprises me
.

Maya belongs to a very special group of Al Khamsa Arabians called Heirloom/El Deree.  Please follow the link below to "What is Al Khamsa" if you are unfamiliar with the organization and its goals, then move on to Heirloom/El Deree.  If you are already an Al Khamsa fan, click HERE for an explanation of the Heirloom/El Deree preservation effort.
