Toiletries Baby Powder - It's recommended now-a-days to use cornstarch instead of talc. Baby Bath - Johnson and Johnson makes a chamomile bath that smells wonderful! Baby Lotion Baby Shampoo - No tear formula! Diaper Rash Lotion Baby Wipes - Experiment until you find the kind you like. I've used Pampers and found they are too wet the closer you get to the bottom. I find Huggies Natural Care thick enough and wet enough. Diapers - This is another experiment. My son just blew through Huggies. Pampers Baby Dry works great for us. Don't get too many newborn diapers though. They grow out of them quick! Comb/Brush Nail Scissors - I prefer scissors over clippers. Clippers would only smashed my son's nails. They never cut through them. Baby Oil - Everyone gets this, but I don't know why. I use a little at bath time when my son's head got a bit flaky. Alcohol - To clean off baby's umblical cord stump.
Feeding Bottles - Even if you're not using formula, it's a good idea to have a few bottles for juice and water. Disposable is the best and easiest. Make sure you get a few 4oz and a few 8 oz. Bottle brush - Great for cleaning out nipples.
Equipment (apart from the obvious) Front carrier - Great for toting around baby. I don't know what we would have done without ours. It's wonderful for dads! Swing - I recommend getting a used one. We got a used one and I'm thankful since my son hated it! Stroller - The 3 in 1 strollers are great. Those are the ones that are strollers and car seats. Portable bassinets - These are great for quick naps in the living room and travelling. Boppy - This is for Mom. I never used mine, but I'm going to try it again this time around.
