When I had my son, everyone told me to use Dreft, but no one could tell me why. I used it for the first year and hated it. I like clean, fresh smelling clothes and Dreft left my son's laundry without smell. I have found out the reasons why to use Dreft though. It's a gentle detergent so if you think your baby may have allergies to regular detergents then Dreft should work fine. Dreft also doesn't affect the fire retardent properties of labelled clothing.
I have my second child due in December and I've already washed the baby clothes in our regular detergent and Downy, which says in small print that it affects fire resistant clothing. The way I figure, the chances of a fire are minimal and one sleeper isn't goiing to save my baby's life although I'm sure there are stories out there that would argue my opinion. Besides I love the fresh smell and softness of Downy. This is my choice though and you will have your own. |
