The Foods
Since sugar is limited, creativity is essential. Take advanctage of sugar free products. They can be a life saver.
Also look into books relating to low carb diets. An example would be The Atkins Diet. They can provide great recipes.
Remember, there are a lot of hidden sugars out there. Fructose is a sugar found naturally in fruits and veggies. Glucose is sugar itself. Lactose is a sugar found in milk. Not all of these will elevate your blood sugar levels, but they will have some effect. Time of day may also play an important part as well as severity.
I have GD now with my 2nd child and my GD isn't as bad as it was with my son. I can get away with a little more this time.
If you have any good recipes to share, feel free to e:mail me and I'll post it!
A few products that I love!

Fresca - This is my favourite soda now. After I had my son I still drank it. It's a diet, citrus soda that tastes great cold, but don't let it get warm. After the chill goes away so does the great taste!

Cheerios - Stock up on these. They are recommended by the American Diabetes Association. They are good for your cholesterol and heart and toddlers love them. I eat Cheerios on some morning and have to dodge my son who doesn't understand that's he's not the only one who eats them.

Jello - Sugar free jello really isn't too bad. It's also fat free and helps if you have a sweet tooth.

Crystal Light - This drink is really good, but expensive. My favourite flavour is the grapefruit.

Beef Jerky - This is a great snack with little carbs.

Pickles - Don't forget these! Every pregnant woman should have a jar of pickles handy. They also make a great snack after baby!
