| God Bless America. Land that I love Stand beside her, and guide her Thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the praireies, To the oceans, white with foam God bless America My home sweet home. God Bless America, Land that I love Stand beside her, And guide her, Through the night with the light from above, From the mountains, To the prairies, To the ocean, White with foam, God bless America, My home sweet home. God bless America, My home sweet home. |

| * "God Bless America" is the unofficial national anthem of the U.S. and was composed by Irving Berlin who was a Siberian immigrant who came to America when he was 5. The original version was written during the summer of 1918 for Berlin's Ziegfeld-style revue "Yip, Yip, Yaphank". The original lyrics were "Make her victorious on land and foam, God Bless America...". The song was not fitting for the comedic show so it was laid aside. In the fall of 1938 Berlin decided to write a "peace" song considering war was eminent in Europe. He remembered "God Bless America" and with few alterations it became the song we know today. Kate Smith sang the revised version of "God Bless America" on Armistice Day in 1938 and the song was a immediate hit. |
