Bugs Henderson & The Shuffle Kings

Bugs Henderson is Texas blues. Probably not as maniacal as Freddie King
but very Freddie like at times. He blends the blues, Texas swing style,
with some splashes of jazz, country, rock and funk. You'll swear you've
heard him before. You probably have. Bugs has performed with some blues greats
- B.B. King, Freddie King, Roy Buchanon, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Heck, he's even performed with Ted Nugent so you know he's a bit touched
with the music bug, not just the blues bug.
What I especially like about Bugs's music is that he doesn't fall into the
trap of just playing the classic blues songs that we've all heard 1000 times.
He does a few of those in his sets, usually with his own arrnagement, but
most of his material is original, fresh and interesting. If he toured more,
he could be a much bigger 'star'. But from what I've read about him, his head
is screwed on straight. He puts his family first - music and career second.
This show has some odd track transitions. Somewhere along the lineage
trail, someone thought they were doing everyone a favor by cutting out all
of the clapping and talking between the songs. I probably could have tolerated
this if they'd concatenated the tracks a a little better but it's a little
abrupt on a few transitions.
