The sound quality of this show is very good, is it a real stereo, with the vocals parts recorded only on one of the 2 channels, so in the instrumental parts the volume of one channel is it a little bit lower. This is definitely a Matrix soundboard with the signature mix of vocals in one channel & instruments in the other, a pretty easy way to safely capture a lot of information.

1. Worried About My Baby too Much
2. Mercury Blues
3. Think (Just In Case We Both Are Wrong)
4. Junior Saw It Happen
5. Super Bird
6. Juke Joy (instrumental) / cut ending
7. ??? (instrumental)

1. Your Old Lady
2. Going Down To Mexico (early version)
3. Loving Wheel
4. Song For Our Ancestors (instrumental jam)

My understanding of the Matrix tapes is that much was recorded but not all that much circulates. Most Matrix tapes were provided by Peter Abrams, of the Matrix. Since then, a number of shows from there circulate;  Dead, QMS, Big Brother, Doors, Springsteen, Steve Miller, Blues Project, etc . Peter was obviously generous. Since then, I have heard that the archive currently resides with the entity known as the Bay Area Music Archives. This organization started off a number of years ago with  hoopla and a benefit or two. As I recall, funds from the Grateful Dead were also part of the seed capital and I think there was an association with BAM, the Bay Area Music magazine. BAM grew out of BAM Magazine, which ran an annual awards show and benefit for the BAM foundation.  The original idea was to create an achives for various materials, including the KSAN tapes and others. I have heard that there are number of the KSAN reels there also as well as stuff from Bill Graham. When the attandence at the awards shows dropped off and magazine folded, the plans for an archive went into limbo.  Every once in a while new plans for an archive are discussed, but I don;t think anything has come of them and the archives are maintained by the founder of BAM Magazine.

Anyway, as I understand it,  funding dried up so the archive is in storage with rights to it a bit vague.
