As with the other "Inside" titles, this consists of unreleased session excerpts -- alternate takes, incomplete takes, false starts, session chatter, etc., and is recommended more for hardcore aficionados than the casual listener.

This particular "Inside" Cd  is the least appealing to me. It's that lush, syrupy sweet symphony sound that Nelson Riddle brought to to the table. Gone are the swinging rhythms; gone are the brass punctuations; gone are the vocal stretches. Still, if you like Frank's softer, ballad side, this is an excellent compilation.

Moonlight Sinatra was suppossed to be a concept album. Let's start w/ the bad pun on Moonlight Sonata.  Someone was trying to be clever but they weren't very. Then there's the filling of the album with all "moon" related songs.  Most of which were done better by the person who first released them, like Mel Torme's original version of Swingin On The Moon. I know that some have argued that Moonlight Sinatra is an unrecognized classic but I don't see.  I do think that Sinatra was increbily brave to release an album like this right at the height of rock's breakthrough year - Sgt Peppers, Pet Sounds, and Bonde On Blonde. An act of desperation or a brilliant move? You can decide.
