In City Dreams Sessions - Demos

Robin Trower - g
Rustee Allen - b
Bill Lordan - dr
Jim Dewar - v

After the album Long Misty Days  Robin Trower added Rustee Allen on bass to alter the band’s sound. Allen, a very accomplished musician, had previously been in Sly Stone’s band. The addition of Allen definitely gave the band a new, tighter, and funkier sound which turned out to be an excellent compliment to
drummer Bill Lordan & Jim Dewar's vocals.  The next album, In City Dreams, took the band in a whole new direction. This album remains one of Trower’s all-time favorites. It's easy to see why -- no longer was he boxed into a predictable sound. And what artist doesn't like to experiment? There are plenty of Trower's signature sound songs, but there is also a more innovative side, and even a 'soft' side at times which sometimes works very well, as on Sweet Wine of Love and Little Girl, though for me, Dewar's voice is usually at it's best on the grittier songs, rock songs. Still, it's always fun to hear the creative process at work in the studio.  Long Misty Days and In City Dreams feature some of the best of Robin Trower's early solo work. If you have been with Trower all along, you already know that. But if you are a recent convert. this is one of the key recordings you should add to your collection.
