Trivia: The premiere of this film took place two days after Elizabeth Taylor's real-life
marriage to "Nicky" Conrad Hilton Jr.. The publicity surrounding the event is credited
with helping to make the film so successful.
Goofs: Continuity: At the party to announce the engagement, Stanley is fixing drinks,
and opens two Cokes which spray all over him. In the next shot, the bottle opener
has disappeared from the kitchen cabinet, and a bottle of Brandy appears in his
hand, which he must put down to wait on the next person.

Quotes: Stanley T. Banks: Who giveth this woman? "This woman." But she's not
a woman. She's still a child. And she's leaving us. What's it going to be like to come
home and not find her? Not to hear her voice calling "Hi, Pops" as I come in? I
suddenly realized what I was doing. I was giving up Kay. Something inside me
began to hurt.

Awards: Nominated for 3 Oscars. Another 1 nomination.
