Invocation of the Dark Goddess
This is a ritual to invoke the dark goddess. This ritual focuses on Hecate. I would say, before you conduct this ritual think very hard about if you REALLY want to do this. I don't believe darkness is something that should be hidden and we as pagans and witches shoudl deny, but I don't believe that walking straight into it is a good idea for everyone. You want to be very sure you can handle this before you preform it as once you being there is no turning back. I would also reccomend that you have someone observe you in a very good circle of protection in case something were to happen. If you go outside your area, this observer may come in handy in case you become a bit tipsy, hallucinate, temporarily lose sanity, or some other misfortune should befall you. After you have POLITELY dismissed the goddess you MUST use a strong purfication/banishment to cleanse you of anything that have hung onto you. If you lack the strenght to do so, please have your observed do this for you until you regain your composure this is terribly important! Overall be careful when preforming this rite and enjoy yourself.
For this ritual you will need: Black candles A brass or black metal censer Wormwood, Dragon's Blood, and Mugwort incense Charcoal incense burner A white candle Wine (red - the darker the better. I reccomend good wine. Saint James Red Velvet is usually my wine of choice for this!) Surround yourself in a circle of black candles. You should have no less than three; let there be 13 or a multiple of three. On the ground set up your materials with all items facing west. This rite is designed to work during the bewitching hour or any time after dark. Cast the incense into the burner if you wish you can place 3, 5, or 9 protective talismans around your circle adn wear one on your body. Visualise the darkness entering your ritual area and evneloping it. Surround yourself with the darkness, drink in the night, feel it pulsing in your body. With each breath draw more of the darkness into you until you are filled with the night. If you hear a raven, crow, or dog's call move on to the next part. If you do not hear this invoke the spirit Raven into your circle and ask his blessings on your journy into the abyss. (If you invite him you must remember to thank him when you are finished!) Next, look upwards to teh moon (as this should be done outdoors during a full moon if at all possible) and let it's silvery light shine into your body, going through you like glass. Invoke Hecate, holding your arms into the air saying: "Great Hecate! You who are the night, You who are the darkness, the move above Triple goddess, come unto me! Grand Hecate, I call ye! Be here of Queen of Heaven Unto me of Queen of Hell! You who comman all things! You from whom all magic flows! Great mystery, oh shadow of darkness, Hecate! I Invoke thee!" You should feel yourself becoming light, feel a surge of power, or some sort of tingling. Maybe a feeling of safety or that you are not alone suddenly. If you do not experince a change, repeat the chant. If after three times you still feel no change, it may be best to end the rite and try again another time. However, once you feel Hecate's power, either do your other magic workings, divination, or try and communicate. If you want you may ask for her blessing or guidance. No matter what you ask be respectful. If you wish to channel her further, continue but if not, thank her and politely allow her to leave. To continue, hold the chalice with the wine up to the moon and say: "Moon, shining bright above me! Goddess, let thing blood run down! Feed me with thine Darkness! Make me thine Kindred!" Drink the wine and continue to channel until you are satisfied. Dismiss her politely and use the srongest banishment you can to rid any malevolent creature from you. Be sure to thank Raven if he was invoked.
