F. A. Q. I've divided my FAQ into different sections just for your convience and mine in case I ever add on to to it. For some odd reason I get a lot of mail from this site, which I certainly don't mind keep it coming! However, I do actually have a life outside this site and the computer so in effort to save some time I'm going to put up the answers to questions that are frequently asked. Most of it will probably be of entertainment value but if it's up here, don't ask! If you get a reply it will just be to check the FAQ; however it's likely you won't get one and I do hate that as it's terribly rude! The sections of the FAQ are as follows: Witchcraft, Pagan and Other Occult Related Misc. Yet Slightly Relevant About the Site Itself Personal Comments I Am Tired of Hearing |
Witchcraft, Pagan, and Other Occult Related Subjects: If you are Wiccan, do you believe in God? Not the Christian god in most cases. Wiccans, in my opinion, to be truely Wiccan must believe in both a god and goddess. There are some Wiccan traditions that only worship only a Goddess (Dianic Wicca) and some people who claim to be both Christian and Wiccan. I do not considere either of these groups to be truely Wiccan. Isn't Wicca Witchcraft? Why does your site say otherwise? No! Wicca is an Earth-based, Neopagan, religion that was founded in the 1950s. For years it has been misrepresented as Witchcraft but it is not. Witchcraft is a practice of manipulating energy to suit one's will. What do you think of Silver Ravenwolf? I think Silver Ravenwolf is crap. Her books are irrelivent and a disgrace to Wiccans and Witches everywhere. I also find the fact that she commercialises religion offensive and thinks it's okay to sell it in a box for $24.99. Her books are not well written either and though written on a beginning level lack intergrity and real, good, solid information. If you are reading any Ravenwolf I'd suggest you stop and pick up Scott Cunningham or Raymond Buckland (ecspecially if you are a beginner!). I'm a beginner, what are some good books for me to read? This is a very hard question to answer. It depends on what you are beginning to study. For Wicca and most general Witchcraft information Scott Cunningham and Raymond Buckland are good places. For other subjects e-mail me and be specific on what you're studying and I'll give a book list, I'm happy to help but questions that are so open ended are hard to answer! Can you be a Witch if you weren't born into it? Yes, there are two ways to look at this: either everyone is born into it, or no one is. There is no such thing as "witch blood," 3rd, 4th, or any other generation witch. Every human has the ability to practice witchcraft, it is a craft like cooking and can be learned. Some people however are more adapt to be a witch simply because they never stopped using certain abilities or for some reason they were not "shut off" by society like most of ours were. If everyone is a Witch does this mean I cannot have a talent for Witchcraft? No, just because everyone can physically paint does not mean it will be easy for them or they'll be able to reproduce a Waterhouse on their first try. You can be talented at Witchcraft and most people who try many different things and methods will find something they find easier than others or seems to work better. Can I become a Witch? If you are truely dedicated and this is the path for you I don't see why not. Start by doing some reasearch and take it from there. Always follow your inutiton and do what feels right. Can I (or how can I) become more powerful? Yes, you will get more powerful with everytime you do something; "practice makes perfect." If you feel something is very hard to do or you do not feel powerful in the practice or ritual/spell format you are using try some different ones until you are comfortable and you will find you are more powerful then. Do I have to be Wiccan to practice Witchcraft and cast spells? Nope! Wicca has nothing to do with Witchcraft or spellcasting. I'm not Wiccan, does the Rule of Three apply to me? Again, no. Not if you don't believe it. In fact Karma itself has never been scientifically proven to exist, it is a matter of faith. The Law of Return, Rule of Three, and Karma are just theories please make up your own mind on if they're real or not. I want to study Voudou, how can I do this? The best advice I can give you is look for Voudou practioners in your area and read all the books you can. Voudou requires initiation and training with a priest or priestess. Do Pagans sacrifice children/animals, worship Satan, practice ritual sex, want to steal my little children away, etc. No, most likely not. Some people claim to be Satanists and actually do worhsip Satan, these people are not however members of the International Church of Satan founded in the 1960s. Some branches of paganism may practice ritual sacrifices, but most do not and are harmless; and certainly none of them want to lure your children into them. There are some practices which includ ritual sex, but in my experince this has always been optional or if it is the practice (Tantra or the like) then it MUST be consentual. Can I change my eye/hair/etc. colour/appearance with a spell? Yes, but this is not The Craft. This is a skill that takes practice and unless you are gifted or very exerpinced this will probably be hard and is not recommended for the beginner. I am Christian, can I practice Witchcraft? Yes, many people say there are passages in the Bible that forbid it though, you will need to read the Bible for yourself and come to your own desicion but you do not have to be of any certain religion to practice Witchcraft. Will you give me a spell for (insert reason)? No, I think you should write your own spells and if I don't have them on the site somewhere I am not going to share them. Are Oujia boards really dangerous? If you don't use adequate protection yes they can be, or if you disrespect the board or something. For the most part I recommend putting up adequate protection and you should be fine. Do you really need all those tools and supplies to preform a spell? No, you don't need anything more than your mind really, the tools and other things are just to make it easier and get you in the right frame of mind, you only need what you think you need. What is the difference between Wicca and Paganism? Wicca is a form of Paganism. Can I preform love spells? Yes. There is no one stopping you from preforming any kind of spell, you can do whatever you want to do. I don't encourage love spells, but they are not "bad" (I don't think anything really is). I would advise that you think very carefully about this matter, many love spells can backfire so you will need to be very skilled to do this right and also why is it you feel the need for a love spell; do you want to be love for yourself or because you put a spell on someone. Keep in mind there are two kinds of love spells: the kind to draw love to you and the kind that you cast on a specific person. The latter of the two is the riskiest and most looked down upon. Can I use magick for my own personal gain? Of course! What other reasons do you have for using magick honestly! If you couldn't use magick to get what you wanted then it would be useless. Helping others can do lots of good too, as twisted as it sounds it will make you feel good to help someone else. Can I preform spells on other people? Yes, of course you can but I don't think this is a good idea. Many people use the term of "magickal rape" to describe the unconsentual preforming of spells upon a person. Even when your spells have the best of intentions (healings, etc.) it's not always a good idea. I'd ask someone to preform a healing ritual or whatever before I did it, in not so honourable things obviously you'll be preforming magick on people without their consent but it most likely won't be the best of intention soo... you'll have to make your own ethical desicions on this one. Why is there a "k" on the end of magic? Most people who practice some form of witchcraft spell it this way. "Magick" refers to manipulating energy to suit one's will, it is also sometimes used to mean the energy itself or the act. "Magic" means slight of hand and illusions which stage magicians (a la David Copperfield and other entertainers) preform. An example of magick is doing a spell to get a new job. An example of magic is doing a card trick. What does Wicca have to do with Satanism? Not a whole lot really. Wicca and Satanism are two entirely different philosophies. Like any two ideas there are some similarties. In both intellect, creativity, and individuality are valued. However, they both are two entirely different belife systems despite being often confused in popular opinion. How do you write Wiccan? You cannot write Wiccan, at all. There is no "Wiccan langauage" or alphabet. You are probably refering to runes. There are many different kinds of runes, the two most popular being Norse and Celtic. However, runes are not "languages" or "alphabets" they are their own magickal systesms. Also, I would reccomend NOT writing in runes or another language in your spell book or anything else. It's much easier if you write in your native language and you'll never have to worry about forgetting to read it. |
Misc. Yet Slightly Relevant What is the proper dress for a Handfasting? Most handfastings I have attended have been outdoors and therefore pretty casual day weddings. You should however use all proper wedding etiquette when attending a Handfasting and dress sensably but nicely to show respect for the couple. If of course the invitation says "Black Tie" then that means Black Tie and you should dress formally. If you still have questions ask the bride or someone in the wedding party to be sure what to wear, just because it is a Handfasting does not mean it will be a causal affair. I'm an attendant in a Handfasting ceremony, what should I do? You should do what the couple has instructed you to do of course! I want to have a Handfasting, how do I do this? If you're going for the legally married thing then you will need to find someone who can legally preform marriages to preform it. In some places, this option is not possible. Another option is to have a simple registration office wedding and a big handfasting later that way you do not have to worry about the legalities for the handfasting which can be difficult. But keep in mind the idea of a handfasting is to bind your life to another person's with whom you have a mutual love and trust, if you do not wish to be legally married then simply find a preist and/or preistess in your area, write a handfasting, and preform it. I want to learn Witchcraft, will you teach me? Probably not. You can e-mail me with questions all you want and I will answer to the best of my ability but unless you are a close friend of live very nearby I will not teach you. This site is my way of teaching. Will you preform a spell or ritual for me? No. Preform your own. I'm under 18, can I find a coven or someone to teach me? Unfortunately probably not. Many people do not teach or allow people uner 18 (even with parental consent) to be a part of their activities for legal reasons. How do I tell my parents/family/friends I'm Wiccan/Pagan/a Witch? I'd suggest dong so very calmly. Do not get upset and begin shouting and making a scene, doing so will only result in you proving you are not mature enough to make such an important descion yourself. If they are open minded have information on hand for them to read and be sure you are very well read and can answer any questions they may ask and take care of any concerns. Looking like you know what you're talking about and being well informed will help them deal with your announcement. Should I tell my friends/parents/other people? It's entirely up to you and you should do what feels right. However, if it will make your life a living hell I'd keep it a secret. Also, be aware that when you tell people even if you ask them to keep it a secret they most likely will not. By telling others your belifes you are opening this up for dicussion. This can come back and haunt you. Make sure you consider the consquences of your actions. Should I wear my pentacle in church? No, this is disrespectful to the people worshiping there as many people may find it offensive. If you do wear such jewlery please be polite and discrete; do not flaunt it and keep it under your clothing, this is a matter of respect. If you do chose to fault it then you are only looking for attention and this is distasteful. |
About the Site Why don't you have a section on (insert subject)? I don't know... perhaps I've just not thought about it. E-mail me with the subject and I will put it on my list of pages to make if I have any knowledge on it, if not I will study up until I do. When will this site be finished? I don't know, it may never be. Hopefully, like my body of knowledge this site will forever be growing. How often do you update? Can you send me an E-mail when you do? I update when I get the chance, usually it's during weekends and school vacations. Some of the pages take a lot of time and a lot of typing so a new page or so doesn't appear everyweekend. At the moment, I don't have a mailing list and can't send you an e-mail telling you about updates, just check back often! I do have a "what's new" section in the Coming Soon section. I may have a mailing list in the future though. Where do you get your graphics? If there is no place listed that I have gotten my graphics from they are mind from books, etc. or belong to Geocities. I use many pictures from Corbis.com (although they are no longer offering free graphics so I no longer do, however it's unlikely I'll change all of my graphics I've gotten from them) and Lacefairy graphics. I try very hard to give credit were credit is due though so if there is nothing listed as a source it's probably mine, but no, I won't send you any of them and please don't send me any "cool" graphics as I won't open them. Do you use GeoCities Page Builder? For this site I do. It was an experiment and I'm far to lazy to change it all now. Yes, I am aware pages can get easily messed up due to the fact that geocities layers tables on tables. I'm sorry if it's messed up on your browser and I know I could probably do a much better job, but this is quick and easy and unless I am at a loss of information then I will probably not switch to writing the html myself. Why are there so many unfinished pages up? Is it just me? No it's probably not your browser, I most likely haven't got the material up yet. I'm sorry for any inconvience if there's some information you are needing in a hurry e-mail me and I'll see what I can do to get it to you. |
Personal Are you TragicNothing from the bolt boards? Yes, I am. I've been on bolt (www.bolt.com) 1997. Bolt.com is now gone, but just in case you were wondering or tyring to keep in contact e-mail me I'm sure I'd love to hear from you! Why is your name Lady Tragic or TragicNothing or something with "tragic"? Because I am and I have been for almost all of my online life. Haven't you been published in a few places recently? Why yes, I have. I have poetry published in various places around the web. For example, the spring 2002 issue of Gothic Fairy Tales for the Meloncholy Child.) |
Comments I Don't Want to Get Anymore! You're an evil person and going to hell. Even if I am evil and going to hell I don't see why it's any of your business. I'm *so* discriminated against, everyone makes fun of me and is mean about my religion, etc. While this is an unfortunate state of affairs I find it hard to believe (if you are living the civilised Western world) that you are honestly horribly discriminated against and it's your own fault anyway because you don't have to tell the world about your belifes or lifestyle, they are your choices to do so and if you chose to do this then you should be prepared to take whatever is thrown your way. People who complain about this are usually not actually talking about discrimination: if you are facing actual legal discrimination I suggest you take it up with a lawyer, not a webmaster. Please accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior and let him save your sould. You are a sinner. I will pray for you. This goes for Christian (or any religion) testimonals on the evils of Witchcraft, Wicca, Paganism, etc. While it flatters me greatly to know you have such great concern for the state of my soul, I do not want to hear it. I will respect your lifestyle if you respect mine, please do not try to save me and we'll agree to disagree. I don't like being mean so respect this! |
