Hindu Goddesses
Abhijit - Hindu goddess of fortune.

Aditi - "The Unfettered."  A Hindu mother goddess who was self-formed and the mother of the sun and moon gods, Mitra and Varuna.  She clears obstacles, solves problems, and protects.  She is the unlimited sapce of sky beyond the far east and the brilliant light from which the gods sprang.

Anapurna - A goddess of food.

Aranyani - A woodland goddess.

Ardra - A goddess of misfortune.

Arundhati - An astral goddess.

Aslesa - Also a goddess of misfortune.

Astamatara - A group of mother goddesses.

Asvayujau - The Puranic and Epic goddess of fortune.

Bala - A mother goddess.

Bharat Mata - A modern Hindu mother goddess.

Bharati - A goddess of sacrifices.

Bhumidevi - A fertility goddess.

Bhutamata - A demon goddess.

Brahmini - Another Hindu mother goddess.

Buddhi - A minor goddess of insight and knowledge.

Chandika
- A goddess of desire.

Chitra - A goddess of misfortune.

Danu - A Hindu goddess of primordial waters.

Devaki - The mother goddess who bore Balarama and Krishna.

Devi - The Hindu mother goddess also known as Mahadevi.  Along with a mother goddess she is the goddess of creativity and women.  She can be portrayed as a mild and loving goddess, holing pleasure and pain in her right hand and life and death in her left; or she can be portrayed as a vicious and frightening death goddess witha sword in one of eight arms (Kali).

Dhanistha - A malevolent Hindu goddess of misfortune.

Dharti Mata - Puranic Hindu mother goddess.

Dhisana - A goddess of prosperity.

Diti - An earth and mother goddess who is (in Hinduism) an ancestor of giants and demons.

Durga - A Hindu warrior goddess who represent the power of the Supreme Being which stands for ethics and morals.  She is symbolised by the tiger, weapons, and the conch and is often shown with many wapons in her hands to represent how evil cannot be killed with one weapon, it takes many.  She protects mankind from misery by destroying eveil forces like anger, prejudice, and jealousy and is also associated with fertility, sorcery, general magick, leo magick, and the moon.

Ida - An earth goddess.  Also the goddess of devotion and prayer, nourishment, and abundance in food.

Jara - The eater of corpses and goddess of the household, domestic health, happiness, and prosperity.

Kali - The black earth mother goddess who is a dark, destructive aspect of the goddess known for giving life and then taking it away again.  It is believed she induces fear in anyone who looks upon her because her appearance is so grim.  She has a habit of eatting her own children for sustainance and is primarily worshipped by assassins.  She symbolises protection, combat, creation, divination, necromancy, and the moon.

Kundalini - The Hindu feminine aspect of serpant force.  She is the universal life force from which magnetism and electricity are derived.

Maya - A universal creator and goddess of nature.

Parvati The Moutain Mother Goddess.  She is consort of Shiva, with whome she is usually portryaed as an ideal divine family with their children Skanda and Ganesh.  She is a benevolent goddess who absorb's Shiva's sexual and spiritual energy and realeases it for the benefit of the world.  She is the daughter of teh Himalayas. 

Rati - The wife of Kama the god of love; a goddess of love.

Saravati - The Hindu goddess of all knowledge and archtype of human creativity. The goddess of learning, speech, poetry, science, and music. and also the consort of Brahma.  She created the alphabet, the arts, mathematics, magick, and music.  She is also a river goddess.  Prayers to her bring artistic inspirtaion.

Shasti Ma  Hindu goddess of childbirth.  She supports easy childbrith, fertility, and healthy babies. 

Sitala Ma
A goddess of Wellness and health.  In Bengal and Calcutta she is invoked as protection again plagues and disease that have traditionally occured at the change of seasons.  She is seen as a safeguard against anthrax, west nile virus, SARS, cholera, yellow fever, small pox, and most communicable infections.  Traditionally, she is portrayed as a fair beautiful lady. 

Sri Laxshmi A goddess of prosperity and abundance.  She is the modern face of the ancient Great Mother Goddess. 

Tara - The "Queen of Physicians."  She is a Hindu and Buddhist deity and was the first female buddha and a teacher of the gods.  She symbolises wishes and health and is a protectress against fears that block people from happiness.  Tara saves those who call her name when they are suffereing or in need of her help.

Ulupi - A serpent goddess who lives in the lowest level of the underworld.
