Abra-Melin Magic
The Abra-Melin is a form of magick developed by Abramelin the Mage.  He was a Jew from Wurxburg, Germany who lived from 1362 to 1460 and also is known as Abraham, Abraham the Jew, or Arbamelin.  He strongly influenced modern occult authours like Aleister Crowley and Alexander Sanders.  Abra-Melin was trained in Kabbalah and claimed to have been taught magick by angels.  He knew how to conjure and tame demons into servants and workers as well as raise storms.
According to Abra-Melin all the demons who created all the world worked under the direction of angels.  He also claimed each individual has an angel and demon as familiars.  He stated the basis for his magick can be found in the Kabbalah.  Abra-Melin himself was the source of much lore about himself.  According to lore he created 2,000 spirit cavalrymen to help Frederick, the elector of Saxony.  He also was said to have helped the earl of Warwick escape from jail.  Another story told about Abra-Melin is that he helped in saving the antipope John XXII (1410-15) from the Council of Constance.
The magick of Abra-Melin was allegedly contained in a collection of three books called The Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage.  This French manuscript (allegedly written in the 18th centruy) is supposedly a translation of Abra-Melins original work in Hebrew around 1478.  The manuscript is located at the Biblotheque de I Arsenal, Paris, was again translated by S. L. MacGregor Mathers (who was a memeber of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn).  The magick is similar to that found in The Key of Solomon.  The basis of the magick lies in the power of sacred names, numbers, and the construction of magical squares for the purposes of flying, commanding spirits, invisibility, metamorphosis, necromancy, and so on.  All rituals for the magical practices must be strictly adhered to and paying close attention to astrological observances.

These are Demons found in Book II of Mathers' translation of the Book of the Sacred Magick of Abramelin the Mage.

The Chief Spirits
I.  Lucifer - from Latin:  Lux "light" and Fero "to bear."  A Light Bearer.  Occassionally will go by Lucifuge from Latin:  Lux (light) + Fugio ("to fly from") = He who shuns the Light.
II.  Leviatan - from Hebrew:  LVIThN = the Crooked or Piercing Serpent or Dragon.  Usually written Leviathan rather than Leviatan.
III.  Satan:  from Hebrew:  ShTN = an Adversary
IV.  Belial:  from Hebrew:  BLIOL = a Wicked One

The Eitght Sub-Princes
I.  Astarot - from Hebrew:  OShThRVYh = flocks, assemblies, or crowds.  Also a name of a goddess; Astarte and Esther derived from same root.  Usually written Ashtaroth.
II.  Magot - possibly from Hebrew:  MOVTh "pebbles or small stones"; or from MG "a changing of place or camp"; or from Greek:  Magos "magician."  Usually written as Maguth.  Compared with the French word Magot meaning a sort of baboon and alternately a hideout dwarfish man.  In fairytales this term means a spiteful elf or dwarf.  This spirit has been credited with presiding over hidden treausre.  Larousse devrives the name from ancient German or French.
III.  Asmodee - Sometimes written Cashmodai but usually written Asmodeus it is thought to be derrived from the Hebrew word:  Asamod "to exterminate or destroy."  Possibly from Persian word Azmonden meaning "to try, prove, or tempt."  Some feel that Asmodeus was a child of incest of Tubal-Cain and Naafrfah (his sister).  Another theory is that he was the demon of impurity.  Still others say he was employed by Solomon in the building of the Temple at Jerusalem and he attempted to dethrone Solomon to put himself in his place, but the the King vanquished him, and the Angel Gabriel chased him into Egypt and bound him in a Grotto.  It's also believed that when Asmodeus was working at the building of the Temple he did not use metal tools but a certain stone that cut ordinary stone as clearly as diamond cuts glass.
IV.  Belzebud - Also written as Baalzebub, Beelzebuth, Beelzeboul, and Beelzebub it is derived from the Hebrew word BOL which means "Lord" + ZBVB meaning "Fly" or "Flies" = "Lord of Flies."  Other sources say it is derived from the Syriac Beel dBobo meaning "Master of Claumny" or the same signification as the Greek Diabolos which is where the modern English and French Devil and Diable come from.
V.  Oriens - The Oriens have four names:  Oriens, Ariton, Amaymon, and Paimon and are usually allotted to the Evil Kings of the four quarters of the World.  Oriens from Latin:  Oriens means "rising" or "Eastern."  Sometimes it is written as Uriens also from Latin but from Uro meaning "to burn, or devour with flame."  It's likely that from this Uriens the mediaevale title Sir Urien is derived.  (Sir Urien being a medieval title of the Devil.)  When written as Urieus it is derived from Latin  Urios which was a title given to Jupiter presiding over the Wind.  Urieus is also derivalb efrom the Greek Eurus, Euru, and Eureia meaning "extensive" or "vast."  He is called Samael, SMAL, by Rabbins derived from the Hebrew root SML meaning "a image, idol, or figure."  In the Qabalah, this is a name given to one of the Chief Evil Spirits.
VI.  Paimon - Frequently written Paymon and occassionally Paimonia.  This name is most likely derived from Hebrew POMN meaning "a tinkling sound" or "small bell."  This word is derived from the Hebrew root POM meaning "to agitate, strike forward, or impel."  In Exodus 28, 34; 28, 33; and 39, 25 the word POMN is used.  The Rabbins have also given Paimon the title OZAZL or Azazel, which is used in Leviticust with reference to the scape-goat.  This is derived from OZ meaning "a goat" + AZL means "to go away."  In Rabbinic demonology it is always used to mean on of the Chief Demons.  However, there is a debate as to wheather the word means the scapegoat or if it signifies a demon to which that animal was dedicated too.
VII.  Ariton - Also called Egin or Egyn this name is possibly derived from Hebrew root ORH meaning "to lay bare, to make naked" or the Greek word Arhret meaning "mysterious" or "secret" and sometimes good or bad.  Egin is possibly derived from Hebrew OGN MEANING "to retard, hinder or delay."  There may possibly be a connection with Greek Aix, Agios, meaning "a goat."  Rabbins call this spirits OZAL or Azael from the root OZ meaning "a goat" and "vigour, vehemence of force."
VIII.  Amaimon - Also written as Amaymon could be from the Greek Maimon, present participle of Maimao and A as as enforcing particle leaving Amaimon to mean "terrible violence and vehemence."  The Rabbins call this spirit MHZAL or Mahazael from the root MZ meaning "to devour or comsume."  Amaymon is talked about in many mediaeval magickal workings as being an exteremly potent Spirit and connected witht he use of a ring with magickal characters to hold before the mouth while conversing with him which is for protection against his deadly, poisonous, fiery breath.
