| Waxing Moon Time: From New Moon to the Full Moon. (Apporx. 14 days) Goddess Aspect: Maiden Associatied Goddesses: Atremis, Brawen, Erin, Nymph, Epon Magickal Attributes: INVOKING - beginings, new projects, ideas, inspiration, energy, vitality, freedom. Full Moon Time: Approx 14 days from New Moon; energy lasts from 3 days before actual Full Moon to 3 days after Goddess Aspect: Mother Associated Goddesses: Danu, Cerridwen, Gaia, Aphrodite, Isis Magickal Attributes: FRUITION - Manifesting goals, nurturing, passion, healing, strenght, power. Waning Moon Time: From Full Moon to Dark Moon Goddess Aspect: Crone Associated Goddesses: Callieash, Banshee, Hecate, Kali, Morrigan Magickal Attributes: BANISHING - Releasing the old, removing unwanted negative energies, wisdom, psychic ability, scrying, reversing circumstances. New Moon (Dark Moon) Time: Between the waning and waxing moon. Goddess Aspect: Enchantress Magickal Attributes: This is when the moon isn't visiable in the night sky. This is a good time for things having to do with beauty, health, self improvement, love, romance, networking, and gardening. Luna Eclipse Time: Whenever a lunar eclipse occurs. Magickal Attributes: Representing the union of the sun and moon any type of magick may be preformed. However, I would recomment long term goals (thinks you wish to achieve in the future) may be good ideas. Moon Void Time: Right before the moon enters a new astrological sign. This is dead space and can last anywhere from ten minutes to half a day. Magickal Attributes: As a basic rule, do not prefom any magick during this time. During this time the otherworlds are a little out of element. During thist ime there is no time nor space magicaklly speaking. |
| The Lunar Year There are thirteen months in a Lunar Year and the moon is full in the around the middle of the Lunar Month. Ancient peoples kept track of the days by the moon, so this may closely but not exactly follow the calander we use today. | January: The Wolf Moon The first full moon is a time of silence and sitting at home by the fire. As the winter rages on enjoy the warmth of home and your family. This is the time to start planning the changes you will be making in the spring. Consider what you will plant, start a moon journal and record your lunar tides, and write down the things you hope to accomplish by spring. February: The Storm Moon Now is the time to start spring cleaning and think about what needs to be let go of both in your home and life. Sweep out the cobwebs and prepare for the new growth of spring and burn purifying incense and white candles. March: The Chaste Moon The Moon of the Faery Folk and Maiden is upon us. Gather your seeds of inspiration and imagine what they can grow into. Prepare the earth for planting and yourself for change. Build an Alter to the Moon and bless your garden in the moonlight. April: The Seed Moon Plant your seeds of magick either in your heart, a pot, a windowbox, or the earth. Fill you home with light and flowers, create colourful eggs to decorate it and bring joy and fertility to your life. Plant herbs on the full moon. May: The Hare Moon Celebrate love and life, free your wild nature and let go of inhibitions. Renew and affirm your sensuality, don't be afraid of romance. Make love and dance freely by the glow of red candles, the radience of the full moon, or a bon fire. June: The Dyad Moon Watch the things grow. Now the old has died away and it is time to make room for the new. Honour your Mother somehow, create an altar of roses, and enjoy the new life and outdoors. July: The Mead Moon Relax and enjoy summer and it's warmth, make time for yourself. August: The Corn Moon Harvest the gifts you have nurtured and give to those in need. Collect and store fresh herbs for the winter. Bake special breads to honour the Gods and Goddesses of grain and growing things, share them with your friends and family but always save some to offer the earth as well. September: The Harvest Moon or The Wine Moon Drink a toast of Dionysus, the God of ecstasy and wine; he is the son of the moon. Gather with friends and celebrate the vine and cheer. October: The Blood Moon In yesteryear this was a time of storing and hunting and preparing for winter and harvests. The wheel of the year is turing like the cycle of life and death. At the time of this moon the veil is thin, make an Alter to your ancestors and ask them to protect and guide you. Carve pumpkins and place candles inside to light their way. November: The Snow Moon Jack Frost beings to make his rounds bringing winter upon us. Now is a time of inner growth, study something new or learn a new craft. Develop your psychic talents and practice divination; on the full moon do a reading for yourself and your friends. December: The Oak Moon Now the Sun's return is apporaching and the Moon eagerly awaits her lover. Make wreaths of Pine, Ivy, Cedar, or Holly to honour him and burn them as offereing on the full Oak Moon. Create a sacred Moon ornament to hang on your Yule tree. The Blue Moon A Blue Moon is the second Full moon in a single month, it's placement varies from year to year. When it is a Blue Moon do something crazy and fun, try something new. |
