Antietam Battlefield Park - Sharpsburg (Washington)
Trails crisscross almost 12 square miles.  Horse trail follows the grass shoulder of the 8.5 mile driving tour road as well as wooded areas along Antietam Creek at Snavely Ford.

 

C&O Canal Towpath - Crosses multiple counties
167.4 miles of equestrian use trail along the old mule towpath.  Ride from Swain's Lock to Cumberland and see historic sights along the way.

 

Patuxent Wildlife Research Management Area - Ft. Meade (Anne Arundel)
Almost eight (7.7) miles of carriage-type gravel trails plus eight (8) mile paved road with wide grass/gravel shoulders.

   

Sugarloaf Mountain - Comus (Frederick)
A well-marked 7-mile equestrian trail circles the base of the mountain.  Footing ranges from packed dirt to carriage gravel with some rocky granite areas.

 

Tuckahoe State Park - Queen Anne (Queen Anne)
Long designated equestrian trail over a variety of terrain.   Sandy trails through pine forests, hilly packed dirt trails through woods along the river and broad grassy shoulders along the flat roadways.
