Our Charter...

The chapter was chartered in February of 1977.  Its goal was to promote good fellowship amongst a group of people who enjoyed the camping way of life.  In the early years, by-laws and regulations were established.  Some of those remain in effect today.  Also, many traditions have evolved as the membership and leadership has changed.  We have weathered bad times and losses and good times and gains.  Through it all, we have remained intact and grown to our present status and stature.  Needless to say, we are proud of our heritage and optimistic about our future.

A chapter does not exist and grow without good leadership.  The Trail Blazing Sams have been fortunate to have had outstanding officers in the past.  The four major offices are:  President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer.  Usually our President will appoint committee people for various activities such as Historian, Membership, Projects and other needed duties.

The following is an outline of some of our beliefs and guide lines:

In order to join the chapter, you must be a member in good standing with the Good Sam Club of America.  Prospects are required to attend three meetings after filing an application for membership.    After that period of time, if the prospects desire to join us, the members vote on accepting or denying entry into the chapter.

The chapter usually meets on the fourth week-end of the month.  So as not to conflict with the Christmas season, we meet on the second week-end in December.  During June, July and August, we suspend our activiities because so many of our members are traveling out of state.   On occasions that warrant it, we have deviated from meeting on the fourth week-end guide line.

On a typical week-end, our business meeting is held on Saturday morning with Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening organized by the chapter's host/hostess.   We may have cook-outs, potluck breakfasts/dinners or all carpool to one of the fine local restaurants.  Our members like outdoor games, card playing and good fellowship.

The Trail Blazing Sams look forward to group activities.   At meetings and formal Good Sam gatherings we usually wear our uniform.  This consists of our white vest, black slacks or shorts,  and a red knit shirt.  We don't dress up very often, but when we do, we sure look good.

We are always looking for good fellow campers to join with us.   We especially hope we can interest friends of our members in becoming chapter members.  It is our belief that our members associate with the type of people that are most desirable.

Happy Trail Blazing to you.
