TRAIL RIDGE ROAD

If you're not a hiker, you can still experience the high country on Trail Ridge Road. In it's 39 miles from Deer Ridge Junction to the Grand Lake entrance, Trail Ridge Road is above 11,000' for nearly ten miles, topping out at 12,183'. The road is only open from Memorial Day weekend through mid-October.

When driving Trail Ridge, don't ride your brakes. Put your car into a lower gear and you'll be able to go from Fall River Pass to Deer Ridge Junction with only a few light taps on the brakes.
