About Me
Me and the famous  # 3.  I was not a big Earnhardt fan, but he was a racer, and true racer will always be missed.
After several requests for an "about me " page I put one in. I hope this isn't too boring. My name is Jay. I was born and raised in Wabash Indiana(Native town of Indy Racer Jimmy Daywalt). I now live in N. Manchester. I'm 40, been married for 18 years, I have 2 kids. Amy  17, Aric 14. I graduated from Wabash High School in 1982 and went to Ball State as a Music education major for 2 years.
I have been seriously interested in racing for about 15 years and trains for most of my life. I have been photographing most of that time.
I grew up going to races to around here with my Father. We had Warsaw north of us along with the tracks around Indy. We even went to some races in Florida. My only claim to fame in racing is I helped make the ignition system in the Buick V-6's that ran at Indy in the early 90's (including the pole winner in 1992) and I made some cowling for Indy cars in 1986. My Grandfather was a Fire and Rescue worker at the Indy Speedway in the 50's.
My Great-Grandfather worked on the inter-urban system in Fort Wayne and the Railroad. Thats probably where my Railroading interests comes from. I grew up living 2 blocks from the old WABASH Station. I use to listen to the trains come in late at night and wonder where they were going. We also use to walk to Gack's(if you are from Wabash you'll know what Gack's is) to get candy. On the way home we use to stop to watch the trains at the station and in the yard a block over.
So here is my basic story, If you have any other questions, please E-mail me @ jay@trainsandracing.com         THANKS!
