Training links and research.
This page will be an ever-expanding resource of useful links and pages with information pertinent to health and fitness.  I will attempt to post only those that I find are most useful.  As usual, multiple sources are often beneficial when making a decision concerning training a given individual.  This information should be regarded as supplemental to, and is not intended to replace, guidance obtained from a professional; such as doctor, coach, personal trainer; who knows you as an individual.  As always you should obtain clearance from your doctor before embarking on a fitness program.

Advice concerning researchYou can typically find research or an expert opinion to tell you anything you want.  You must be discerning when taking in the results of some study.  In the USA research tends to be conducted by companies who have an interest, primarily, in promoting some product.  Look for second or third sources on a topic.  Look for research conducted by a neutral party such as a university or the government.  Research from many European countries tends to be government-conducted as part of the socialist health care.  Always ask the reason the party conducted the research.  In the case of the US Navy studying the effects of resistance training and cardiovascular training when used exclusively and when performed together, you can give  high marks for credibility because their concern is enhancing the fighting ability of their sailors and not increased demand of some product.
