To Whom It May Concern:
I am very interested in a graphic design position at your firm. With eleven years of design experience, I’m comfortable with each phase of a project, from concept to final production. While my focus is in print media—corporate identity, branding, brochures, advertisements, direct mail, etc.—I’ve also designed Web sites and have experience marketing ideas and presenting them to the public.
My time as Art Director at Crisis Magazine reinforced these skills while adding others. I was promoted to this position from that of Graphic Designer after I successfully redesigned the magazine, logo, and corporate identity in 2004. Among other accomplishments, I negotiated a 45% discount on rights-managed photos with Corbis, saving the company over $42,000 a year. My recommendations for streamlining the printing process also netted a savings of about $7,000 a year. In addition, I was the liaison between our ad agency, clients, and printer, making sure the advertisements met our printing specifications.
I learned how to meet deadlines in the fast-paced environment of Ford World Headquarters. At Kmart World Headquarters, I supervised the Sesame Street advertising campaign, working with the team and vendors from concept to printing to distribution in the stores worldwide. And at Aquent, I had the privilege of collaborating with many different firms, which taught me how to work in a team environment. I’m happy to work closely with others and am always open to having my work critiqued by my colleagues to make sure we create a design solution that exceeds our client’s expectations.
Furthermore, I have two art degrees: a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and a B.A. in Studio Art with an emphasis in photography, drawing, and painting. I believe my education, experience, and skills would be an asset to the goals and mission of your organization. I can be reached at tranglamd@yahoo.com or 571.205.4202 if you have any questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Trang Lam
