January 2002 Initial contribution of Rs 34,000 from Dept staff received to get the project off the ground. March 2002 Commenced a monthly contribution of Rs 4,000 towards school children’s education, by Mr Mohan Asirwathan Rs 2,000 and PHD fund Rs 2,000. Mr Rajamani provides monthly transport free of charge…approximate mileage 600 km costing Rs 5,000 approximately. A visit monthly is possible due to this generous contribution by Mr Rajamani. 22 toilets constructed at a cost of Rs 22,000 April 2002 Raffle done by the Dept staff and Rs 50,000 set aside for the PHD. Avurudu Festival organised and prizes given away to winners. This was possible due to the contributions received from the Dept staff. Donated necessities such as Exercise books, water bottles, pencils, erasers, pencil boxes, school bags for school children. Rs 4,000 donated for exercise books by Mr Hilary De Silva, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Rs 1,000 from Mr Jude Dayaratne, staff member. Rs 1,250 from Dept staff Clothes donated by Dept Staff distributed May 2002 Rs 18,400 spent to renovate the pre-school from PHD funds. June 2002 Complete First Aid Box donated to the pre-school by Ms Indika Perera, staff member. Water Filter donated to the pre-school by a well wisher at a cost of Rs 1,764. Commenced paying wages to the 02 pre-school teachers Rs 350 monthly by Mr Nihal Perera, staff member. Toothpaste/tooth brushes distributed, donated by Dr Amerasingnhe, Blue Springs and advised re. oral health. Conducted team building games among villagers which was responded to by the villagers excellently. |
