Culture - the assumptions, beliefs, values and norms that drive the way we do things and is the largest and most controlling of the systems because it affects not only open organisational behaviour but also shadow-side behaviour. Organisational culture can influence the performance of both the individual and the institution. The Trans Asia Accounts Department in a gradual way set some of these features rolling in order to develop a culture that is in line with the functions of an accounting department. 1. A flexible management style that is lead by example and combined with a style that adapts to changing situations. This style is commonly known as the Vanguard Leadership. 2. Maintaining discipline at the highest standards in whatever we do. 3. Instilling and upholding honesty and integrity at the highest levels without any exceptions. 4. A unit called SCAD (Steering Council - Accounts Department ) established with the objective of steering the accounts department and to foster and promote welfare amongst the employees who are members of the department. 5. A unit called MDP ( Management Development Programme ) established with the objectives of bringing together all the members of the accounts department to strengthen team spirits and foster better understanding enabling the individual team members to perform more effectively and efficiently. Harnessing leadership traits and the development of the individual is a feature in the process of achieving the MDP objective. 6. A unit called the Super League established amongst other objectives to improve physical fitness and develop team spirit through sports activities. This is implemented by playing games namely, cricket, soccer and tap rugger between two teams on a schedule with a point scheme. 7. Rotational Chairman at the weekly Executive Committee Meeting (ECM). 8. Discuss a management perspective at the ECM. 9. ECM at a location outside the hotel. 10. Empowerment by appointing sub-committees to decide on crucial issues. 11.Creativity through the process of continuous improvements. |
