Ladies' Club | ||||||||
The original Ladies Club of Transfiguration Parish was founded in the early 1960's. The club continued for several years,, however, over the years with growing families and changing needs the club was disbanded. Then in 1988, the present Ladies'club was re-formed, some of the members today were members of the original club. The Ladies'Club is one of the financial and social backbones of the Parish, the money raised over the years has greatly assisted in keeping the Church out of greater debt. There is more to this club than simply fund-raising and arranging socials, for example, every year 55-65 Christmas baskets are prepared for the less fortunate, preparation of receptions following funerals, organizing 20th, 30th and 40th Anniversary celebrations, etc. The Ladies' Club has organized anniversary celebrations for the various members of our parish clergy, organized and participated in the Annual World Day of Prayer, whatever the occasion, our ladies are there to bake, cook, decorate and everything needed to make an event a success. |

The club has regular monthly meetings with occasional guest speakers, or flower arranging, bingo, line dancing, story telling, annual potluck supper and to finish off each year, we have our closing, held at a special restaurant, which varies from year to year. What would each year be without our annual Bazaar? This event is the major fund raiser of our Parish. If you are part of this event, you will experience how much fun you can have and work hard at the same time. The Bazaar to many or most of the parishioners is a one day event, however to many of those involved, it may take anywhere from 9 months to prepare for certain booths, including the "Nearly New", the crafts, Christmas etc. The Mens' Club also contributed greatly to the Bazaar with the setting up and the "Super Raffle". There is something about Bazaar Day that generates a great feeling among the workers and that at the end of the day, when we see the results, we know it was all worthwhile. In addition to the Bazaar, we have many other projects, such as card parties, Communion breakfast, fashion shows and several activities within the club, such as sugaring-off trip, apple-picking trip and golf tournament to name a few. The Ladies' Club is always there, be it for social or special events, in so doing we are contributing to the parish community. True and endearing friendships have been formed through this club over the years. We have been through the laughter and tears, the good times and the hard times, which has made us a powerful and integral part of Transfiguration. So ladies, please come and join the Ladies'Club of Transfiguration. Thanks to all present and past members for keeping the spirit going. 40th Anniversary Steering Committee. |
