A Coaster train on midday layover in the yard which is adjacent to the San Diego Trolley yard. Amtrak trains tie up here overnight also.  The Coaster is operated by the North County Transit District, running between downtown San Diego and Oceanside, where connections can be made to Metrolink to Orange County and Los Angeles
The train in the above pic is getting ready to pull out of the yard for the short deadhead to Santa Fe station.  The track is adjacent to the Trolley Bayside line.
This is an ex-SCRTD/LACMTA 1981 GMC RTS-04 which was now working tour duty in San Diego.  It was parked in front of the Santa Fe Amtrak/Coaster/Trolley station.  It had a commercial license plate issued in October 1994, so it was probably retired by MTA earlier that year.  I wasn't able to find out the MTA number, but it still had a Division 18 sticker in the front window!  So I'm guessing it may have been a bus from the 8200 or 8300 series.
2041 is a mid-90s New Flyer D40 (or possibly C40), operated by ATC/VANCOM under the MTS banner.  Line 932 (formerly line 32 when it was operated by San Diego Transit) runs between downtown San Diego and the US-Mexico border in San Ysidro
