	If not 
	....., แม้ว่าจะมิใช่ ....... ก็ตาม

	The Thai people owe much, if not all,
	of their culture and civilization to 
	Buddhism.

	ชาวไทยเป็นหนี้พระพุทธศาสนาในเรื่อง
	วัฒนธรรมอยู่เป็นอันมาก แม้ว่าจะมิใฃ่
	โดยสิ้นเชิงก็ตาม

	To do good for the sake of wealth and
	fame is, if not the best way, better than
	not to do good at all.

	การทำความดีเพื่อลาภยศและชื่อเสียงนั้น
	แม้จะมิใช่ วิธีที่สุดก็ตาม ก็ยังดีกว่าไม่ทำ
	ความดีเสียเลย

	To do good for the sake of good may be
	difficult than to do so for the sake of
	wealth and fame, but we should try to do
	it as often as we can, if not always.

	การทำความดีเพื่อความดีอาจทำได้ยาก
	กว่าการทำดีเพื่อลาภยศและชื่อเสียงก็จริง
	แต่เราควรพยายามทำให้บ่อย ๆ เท่าที่จะ
	ทำได้ แม้อาจจะ เสมอไปยังไม่ได้ก็ตาม

	We may boast that we are far more 
	advanced than our forefathers in 
	the material aspect. But from the 
	spiritual point of view, we seem to be
	more barbarous than they were. So
	the balance is, if not equal, every 
	nearly so.

	เราอาจจะคุยได้ว่าเราเจริญก้าวหน้ากว่า
	บรรพบุรุษของเราในด้านวัตถุ แต่ในแง่
	ของจิตใจแล้ว เราดูเหมือนจะป่าเถื่อน
	มากกว่าท่านเสียอีก ดังนั้น ผลสรุปก็คง
	จะใกล้เคียงกันมากทีเดียว แม้ว่าอาจจะ
	ไม่เท่ากันทีเดียวก็ตาม
