ALL of us have the healing capacity within us. That is our "birthgift". Your body is already equipped with its own defense against the elements and it is cleverly designed with the complex healing mechanism from the moment the foetus is gradually transformed into a complete human form in its mother's womb.Genetic profiles aside, our bodies are designed to suit the climate, geography and proclivity in which we were born. Let's take an Alaskan out of the North Pole and place him in the Sahara desert to wander among the bedouins; he would not last another day out of his birthplace. Even so, the body has its own way of acclimatising itself in the new environment, given time.
I was born blessed with the much coveted honey-glaced skin, as a result of Thai-Malay mixed parentage. I do not have much problems tolerating the heat and humidity, indigenous to South East Asia, but at one point of my life when I was living in Brazil and Mexico City during Winter, I had instant problems with the cold climate and watched helplessly as my body succumbed to the altitude-related sickness.
Still, a couple of months later, my body was fully adjusted to the new environment and was enjoying life just like the natives were. See, self-healing is inherent. But what have happened to some of us?
We grow up. And we forget. We forget that we have the capacity to heal ourselves. But what do we do? We do exactly what we "have been programmed to do". Our belief system is based on what we have been fed to believe. Our perceptions are derived from our upbringings; our backgrounds. Have a headache? Take Panadol. You get the idea.
Leia, is not your ordinary Masseuse. At birth she was completely enveloped in a caul (the fetal membrane) to the delight of her grandparents which they understood to be a sign of a special gifted child. Leia came from a long line of healers and shamans on both her maternal and paternal sides.
So it is only natural for her to tread on the similar spiritual healing path. Born a transsexual with 47 XXY chromosomes, Leia knew all along about her special healing gift but at one point of her life, had chosen a profession which was far removed from her true calling. She had worked as a journalist at one of the leading English newspapers in the country, a profession that offered her inside knowledge of how everything is connected in the capitalist world.
Her experience living in other countries had exposed her to extreme realities: human sufferings and harsh living conditions in Latin America, while wealth and abundance in Bahrain and Japan. Still, there was a lot of suffering.
She had endured and seen enough; enough suffering to wake her up to her true calling, motivating her as entering the mid term of her lifetime, to allow and release these inherent gifts towards healing others.
Leia is also a clairsentient (or an empath), born with a trait that makes her aware of all kinds of subtle messages from the outside and inside. It is not that our eyes or ears are sharper. It's that we process more deeply the information we receive. Being highly intuitive, helps her to understand and connect more deeply to others.
This ability to share in another person’s emotions, thoughts, and feelings is Leia's special way in understanding the person's healing needs before asssisting them on the road to recovery.
