Travel bugged.com.2006
There so many eating places in Kathmandu that you will never go hungry!  After several days being a vegetarian on the trek, one might want to PIG-OUT!  Here are some recommendations:

Tashi Deleck - This place was recommended by Ms. Liong, she is a fellow Malaysian whom we met in 2005.  She stays just a few blocks away from this eatry.  It has vegetarian and non-vege, there were many quite a number of maroon color robes monks enjoying their noodles there.  I only had a lassi, so 2006 trip, I will try out their noodles, seem to me the monks slurping their soup noodles must be good!  Otherwise, I would think their MOMOS are great since it orginates from Tibet.

Back from 2006 trip! and hey, the noodles were great and
you can get them in Square (Pan Mian) or Mee Kuning type, - I reckon I like the mee kuning types, and their MOMOS were just as good - Dumpings (fried ones) with sauces are excellent.  Soup ones available too.

Northfield - This place also has a budget B&B.  Just right outside (opposite) the office of MRR (White Water Nepal Rafting) office.  The pizzas are great, but you need to wait more than 30 minutes! they make them fresh, therefore it tastes good!

NARGILA - Middle East Food, this is just on the same level as the White Water Nepal office.  The portions are rather generously big for Asian appetite.  I would recommend the Chow mein... ok loh... not your typical char-keoy-teow though. Theres also authethic middle eastern food like?? Coucous - chickpeas. I haven't try them yet... maybe this trip in 2006 then!   - Well I did in 2006 as well, and the chicken chops with mushroom sauce were YUm Yum Yum!

ANNAPURNA Tandoori Chicken
It located somewhere in Thamel, each chicken is Rps 199. Very tender and juicy and YUMMY !  Must go if you like Tandoori.  They also serve other Nepali food and vegetarian dishes! Its a recommendation by SHONAS! :) Good deal too!   We had them twice in 2006, once when we just reach there and before we return to Malaysia! Can't beat the prices and taste!!!! A Must Must try for fellow travellers.

K-Too's Steakhouse
Its a recommended by a fellow TG flight passenger from Soctland - Gerard.  He lives in Kathmandu.  So, try the steaks, it's so much better than Colisium, I was told.  Get a free Irish Cofee when you quote Gerard's name! :) Bet his friend going to "slaughter" him for those free Irish coffees! :)
Kilroy's
- not sure about this, but seems that this is on the LONELY Planet's recommended places.  Maybe can try this place next trip!  Insider note: they have a "shared menu" with K-too's drinks' list.     I did a 2006 April trek with some friends and we had a great time drinking and eating food!! there - a very "classy" place, compared to most of the down-to-earth places.

Kantipur Kitchen
For the really really cheap meals, try Kantipur which serves "take away". The MOMOS are 30/40 Rps per 10 pcs and the coke is 14 Rps.  Remember you paid 100Rps in the mountain tea-houses! :)  So, a meal would costs you 50Rps if you are on a budget! :)  Happy eating!   Not so recommended for very very hygenie conscious travellers.
