Kathmandu valley is situated 1336m and covers an area of 218 square miles. There are many places to visit such as : Entry Fees are approxmated for Patan Dubar Square : 200Rps, Boudhanath Stupa is 50 Rps (Budhhist) , Shyambhunath Stupa (Buddhist) , Pasphupatunath Temple (Hindu) - 200 Rps (Not sure if prices have changed since 2003) Probably went up. Outside the Kathmandu city recommendations: Sunset or Sunrise at Nargakot hill station. It takes about 2 hours to drive up the winding roads to Nargakot. On a good weather day, I would think tea and cakes makes a nice cosy setting in English style. Pokhara is a nice place with Lake Phewa and the Annapurna View in full splendor if you are lucky to be seeing absolutely clear blue skies. This is the starting place of Annapurna ABC trekking. In between, National Chitwan Park (safari) stay at one of the lodges.. Tiger Resort is quite a nice place with excellent food! and its the food that keep my memory alive.... we also had personal elephants fetching us from the resort to the river for bath and play. Dhuran is the third largest city in Nepal and almost at the south-eastern tip. Thats where the Sunkosi / Tamaur river trip ends. The 2006 trip for rafting in Marsyangdi, we arrive in Besishahar, the start of the classic Annapurna circuit trek. The Marsyangdi river flows through the rice paddies, terraced fields, and Hindu villages... |
