NikiAnne and Andy first met at The George Washington University in 1997, when they were both freshmen. As luck would have it, they lived 3 doors apart during that entertaining first year, but did not begin "dating" until their sophomore year. After a year together, they parted ways for 18 months, as NikiAnne went off to spend her junior year abroad, living life and practicing her Espanol in Argentina and then the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, Andy spent his 2nd semester abroad, backpacking around Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, and occasionally studying.
Quite surprisingly, especially to each other, they got back together a few weeks into their senior year at GW, and have been together ever since, some 4-plus years.
In the summer of 2002, we began hatching plans to escape the  rigors of work and travel the world. After much debate about when, where, and how, plans began to crystalize, tickets were bought, and friends living abroad received that 'Hey, can I sleep on your sofa' email. We left our jobs behind, gathered our essential belongings (apparently, fantasy baseball scouting reports are not included in that category) and set upon our trip June 1, 2003. At the time of departure we had no return tickets in hand. In the end, our trip lasted 13 glorious months.
We are now residing in Santa Cruz, California, just 90 minutes south of San Francisco. Andy is working at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Center for Non-proliferation Studies. NikiAnne is working 2 part-time jobs, as an instructional aide at a public elementary school and for JewishCard, doing sales for her aunt's greeting card line.
Who knows what's the next journey in store. Our eyes are always searching. Perhaps you know of something interesting... here are our resumes just in case:
