From David Kass
All of the pictures on this page are from David "Momma" Kass and were taken on Operation Oklahoma Hill in April 1969.

In spite of the similarities ot these two pictures of choppers they are two seperate events.  The first is a medavac for a couple of men that were being taken out for heat.  One of them is Louis Herman.  He would be shot and killed on August 29, 1969.

The second chopper is dropping off a sling full of supplies.

It says a lot for the nerve and skill of the pilots that they are able to drop their choppers into holes like these.  It wouldn't take much of an uh-oh to have your blades in one of the trees.
Above and below are David Kass.

The pictures also show about what the ground looked like on this operation.  You can see how well men standing around and taking no effort to conceal themselves blend in.  Sort of gives you an idea how hard it was to see the enemy who were actively hiding.

The bottom picture shows what all David had to carry.  It was a lot in terrain that was constantly up and down.
