Is any member of The Travis and Jonathan Show cast more beloved than Sam Tindall? Probably not. JONATHAN SHOCKLEY recently sat down with Sam (TRAVIS was in the backyard helping his niece search for her lost medicine) to chat about Bob Keeshan, bus travel, and a brother named Pudd'n. Unfortunately, Jonathan forgot to check his batteries beforehand, so his tape recorder died four minutes into the interview. But what he got is great! |
| JONATHAN: I’m here with Sam Tindall, who is everyone’s favorite comedian from The Travis and Jonathan Show. Do you have anything you’d like to say to the fans, Sam? SAM: The fans are real nice. JONATHAN: Good, good. Now you were talking earlier, you said that you were an actor. Is that true? SAM: Yeah, I was an actor. In Nashville. J: And what’d you act on? S: Romper Room. J: On romper Room? J: On Romper Room. J: What’d you do on there? S: Played on there. Played with dices. Played with horse sticks. (ANDREW CONLEY, of What's Your Favorite Bird fame, joins in.) ANDREW: [Jonathan] doesn’t know anything about your family. (SAM attempts to wave him off. He's afraid Andrew is ruining the interview!) J: I'm just going to type this up, it’s like taking notes. S: Okay. J: So you were on Romper Room, then what’d you do, after Romper Room? S: We played in a bunch of stuff. J: Now where did you meet Bob Keeshan? S: I met Bob Keeshan in Florida. ANDREW: How many brothers you got? S: Got two brothers and one sister. ANDREW: What are there names? S: Laura, Jeff, Curtis. A: They don’t have nicknames? S: I don’t want to bring that up. A: What are their names? S: They call the other one Cockroach, and the other one named Turd, and the other one named Pudd’n. J: Pudd’n? S: Yeah. J: How’d they get those nicknames? S: They called Lulu. J: Lulu? S: Yeah. J: Lulu gave 'em the nicknames? S: Yeah. They were born like that, that’s their middle names. J: That’s their middle names. S: Yeah. J: Were they, ah, ever actors? S: No J: What do they do? S: I was the only one that was ever an actor. J: What do they do, Cockroach and Pudding? S: They didn’t do nothing. J: So you met Bob Keeshan in Florida. S: Yeah, and I moved around, went to Daytona Beach. J: What’d you do in Daytona Beach? S: Went to school in Daytona, traveled around on a Greyhound bus with Bob Keeshan. J: So you'd go around and do the shows in different cities. S: Yeah. J: So now what's the story you were telling me about Bob Keeshan and CBS and the money? S: Yeah, CBS, they owed him a lot of money, and they screwed him… (The tape recorder's batteries run out.) |
