Hello my name is Travis Finkle. I have been an ARBA member since 1993. I grew up on a small farm in Southern Maryland with Rabbits, Quarter Horses, Nubian Dairy Goats and many other farm animals. Rabbits have been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. My involvements as a youth with ARBA have helped me get to where I am at today. I am currently working for the USDA in the Animal Biotechnology Laboratory; and I am a full time student at the University of Maryland working towards a degree in Animal Genetics and Reproduction. I have recieved four licenese through ARBA; a rabbit registrar license in 2003; a cavy registrar license in 2005; an all breed rabbit judges license in January of 2008 and most recently a cavy judge license in 2009. Currently I hold the following positions; President of the Southern Maryland Cavy Club for the past seven years; President and founding member of the Maryland State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association and a member of the ARBA Sohw Rules Committee
When it comes to my rabbits they are truly the only thing that makes me happy. The most relaxing thing for me after a stressful day at work and school is to return home, feed my rabbits then just sit there and listen to the sounds of them munching on their feed. I have been raising Arch Breed rabbits my entire life, actually I have never raised a rabbit that was not an arched breed. Currently I raise Britannia Petites, Tans and Belgian Hares. In the past I have also raised English Spots and Rhinelanders. I obtained my first Tan in 1990, fell in love with them and have been raising these beautiful arch breed rabbits ever since. The Britannia Petites joined my herd seven years ago. The Hares sparked my interest a few years back and have been in my barn for the past year. |
