The megaplexes used old designs of OGRES for the first year or so, then, in 2202, Sheffield created the first new design. Retaining the old NAC nomenclature, it was called the Mk VII. Relatively fast, it was armed mostly with missiles and missile racks, and was intended to support both conventional and OGRE forces against the fast Enemy grav vehicles. The Mk VII was the same size as the old MkVI. Additional ammunition was provided in the field by the Mk VIII transport OGRE.The Mk VIII was the size of the old Mk III.

In late 2203, the Gotha Megaplex produced its first new (relatively) OGRE. With the Enemy laying siege to the Megaplex, the Gotha AI finally pulled six old, disassembled Doppelsoldner chassis' out of storage in its deepest bunkers. These had never been completed during the Last War, but times were now desperate. To cope with the Enemy's fast armor, the Dopp's main and secondary batteries were replaced with four howitzers. Gotha named the new beast the Ubersoldner
