Additional Comments on show:
From Blue Fish
A good audience recording. I was located in the center of the floor so you can hear the acoustics of the hall. The mix is dominated by the vocals with the guitar and drums also coming through clearly. The keys are easily distinguishable and the bass is hard to pick out. The usual Dream Theater mix. The audience noise is minimal, just the usual cheering found on an audience recording. Luckily there was no one real close that had to scream or clap loud. Unfortunately, the soundman was not up to par for the show. There are quite a few moments of feedback and a terrible hum during Beyond This Life. After this song ends he finally picks it up and fixes the problem as Jordan starts his keyboard solo. Overall the band puts on a decent performance. Portnoy seems to have a good time and sings the beginning of Learning To Live. James seems to have an off night. He has some problems hitting some notes towards the end of the show and it seemed to me that he was a little aggravated. As far as the recording, I missed the intro music at the beginning of the show and about the first minute of Overture. There is also a small cut at the very end of Take The Time. I kind of freaked out because I was running out of tape and did not know when the intermission was. Mainly audience clapping was lost but also the very beginning of the little blues jam the brake into at the end of the song. At least I did not miss the Rush jam :) I hate to grade my recordings but I would give it a B+. Huge THANKS to James (Danger Kitty) for putting all the time into creating the liners and being the Cochese on all these projects.

A pretty good audience recording. All of the instruments can be heard but the keybards seems to be lost in the mix during the first part of the show (a slightly muddy sound). The same goes for the guitars. The drums and vocals are the most prominant in the recording. The one thing that this recording has that I feel both nights at the Beacon Theater doesn't is that "umph" from the bass drum. It's not as flat as the other shows. Nice addition to the recording. At various times throughout the show, the guitars sound a little distant and the overall sound of band seems a bit hollow at times. The soundman must have been on crack on this night of the tour because it took him a while to fix the feedback problem. That's the one annoyance of the show that was captured on taped. It is corrected before the beginning of Lines in the Sand. There is and AWESOME duet between Jordan and John at the end of Take the Time. There is one portion that I continually have to go back and listen to ...simply amazing! The one weird part of the whole set is that the sound on the recording seems to have significantly improved on disk 3. The recording seems is a lot clearer, almost like it's a different source but it's clearly not. Overall, definitely one of the better recordings from this tour compared to some of the other Euro shows circulating. I highly recommend picking this up. You won't be disappointed.
