The Digital Dan:
This is the first Digital Reproductions Box Set release. This features all 3 nights at the N.E.C. in Birmingham, England during the Signals tour. The same taper taped all three nights and allowed us to use the master tapes for the production effort. While the Wembley Arena show is the best sounding of the Signals shows to surface (May 2001), these are definitely among the next best sounding shows from the tour. The audience is very polite, but also excited to see the band. The instruments are captured very well and can be heard clearly. The source is barely distant enough to notice from the accoustics of the venue. There is virtually no tape hiss present, making it a very clear recording. Neil sounds great with just Alex as the low man in the mix. The mix is a bit compressed towards the midrange.

The original master tape digital clones that made their way around in traders circles had the 1st and 3rd nights recorded too hot as the levels were set too high during the cassette to cdr transfer. This caused distortion and clipping during a good portion of both concerts. Suite Signals was delayed 3 weeks in order to procure corrected transfers for remastering. This was released as a limited edition box set complete with 6cdr case, cdr labels, and artwork and given to the first 15 takers for free. The box set is easy enough for anyone to assemble, just buy a 6cdr case and print out the artwork. Once again, a special thanks to Mark for taping the shows and kindly retransfering the master tapes. As with all Digital Reproductions releases, this is available for free trade only and should never be sold or bought. Thanks once again for keeping the spirit of trading alive.
