Welcome!  I won't bore you with too many details about myself.  I am a single mother of three, I love to garden, redecorate my house, play with my children, and write poetry.
The poems on this page were written as far back as 1983.  Most of them are true-life experiences, mixed in with those that are simply fiction.  I hope you find something here that makes you smile, cry, laugh or gives you cause to think.
I am mildly narcissistic by nature, so I don't mind if you share a poem you enjoy.  I would appreciate it, however, if you asked first before printing any of my material.
I've posted angel images throughout, as I am very thankful for the ability to put my feelings into words. The angel pictures were found on various sites on the web, and I certainly don't mind if you use them.  Please do not link directly to my page, however.  Right click on the image and "save as" to your own hard drive.  If I've infringed on anyone's copyright please notify me so I might correct my error.
Now, relax, get a cup of something good to sip and settle in.  Thanks and enjoy!

My Visual Poetry
I have an account at DeviantArt.com, where I have been posting my drawings, photos, and visual poetry.  I've been learning how to manipulate photos to make new images (which is totally cool!).  There are a few of my Visual Poems that I've done using my new-found photo manipulation skills.  I have more, but these are the only ones I've done that are use images I took.  The rest belong to artists on DeviantArt.com, which means I can't post them here.  But feel free to visit my page over there.  You'll find LOTS of really awesome artists!!!

When we two parted
in silence and tears
half broken-hearted
to sever for years,
pale grew thy cheek and cold,
colder thy kiss;
truly that hour foretold
sorrow to this.
The dew of the morning
sunk chill on my brow ~
it felt like the warning
of what I feel now.
The vows are all broken,
and light is thy fame;
I hear thy name spoken
and share in its shame
In secret we met~
in silence I grieve
that thy heart could forget,
thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
after long years,
how should I greet thee? ~
With silence and tears.

How To Critique Poetry
THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

~ Robert Frost
"You Never Walk Alone"

You never walk alone my friend
Though you may think you do,
For in your sorrow and despair
God always walks with you.
There is no hour, no passing day
He is not by your side,
And though unseen he still is there
To by your friend and guide.
When'er you think you walk alone
Reach out and you will find,
The hand of God to show the way
And bring you peace of mind.

-Harold F. Mohn
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

~ Dylan Thomas
"Writer's Block "

A darkness crept into my mind,
A meaning for which I couldn't find.
A word, a phrase was all I need,
A single thought I couldn't bleed.
Time crept by a gloomy pace,
Confusion sat upon my face.
This blackened cloud that doth consume
The yarn upon my creative loom.
Something's there, it's on the brink…
It's all so simple, wouldn't you think?
But here within this darkened bliss
I sit and strain my consciousness
For just one clue…I try so hard!
Who would praise a clueless Bard?!
Time ticks by a second long,
Each vision turned to something wrong.
This bleak and empty world in mind
Lost within this mental bind.
Searching for the key to unlock
This poet's Hell; this writer's block.

"Time Goes On"

Time goes on
and dreams, they die
so I've thrown away the pictures
That I had of you and I

And I don't think anymore
about the things we've been through
and I don't close my eyes
to picture myself with you

Finally I understand
how fickle love can be
and the miles that stand between us
no longer bother me.
