The U.S.S. Odyssey takes part in a variety of events for the community and for recreation. We work the "Show a little Love" food drive. February 20, 1999, one month after the groups formation the Odyssey coordinated eight schools and other clubs in a nine-location, food/charity drive that collected $2700.00 in cash and materials. All benefits went to three local charities. We have expanded the drive to include Waverly as well as Chillicothe.
The Odyssey and crew continued to be involved in the local community scene. The Odyssey Odd-Balls Bowling team participated in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bowl for Kids' Sake in March.
The group put together and published a cookbook, "Goodies From The Galley," to raise money for the club and for Good Sam. We sold these cookbooks at the Millennicon and Marcon Conventions. The Odyssey also participates in Columbus Ships' Bowling and putt-putt charity events as well as the June picnic here in Chillicothe. |
