I thought it would be interesting to recreate the opening "Fishing" sequence
in the original Star Wars, except with a slight twist. That is basically what I did with this
TrekWarz story board. Instead of having the Rebel Blockade Runner as the ship being pursued
by the Stardestroyer, I chose to use the USS Enterprise.
I originally created the 3d model of the Enterprise using AutoCAD
Release 12. Due to the enormous size of the file, I decided to recreate the entire model, with the
exception of the Nacells and Hanger Bay, utilizing MicroStation 95. This cut the file size
down dramatically. The model of the Enterprise was relatively easy to create. The Stardestroyer
model was a personal challenge for me. It was entirely created utilizing MicroStation 95,
except for the geospheres at the top of the bridge area, which are primitives from
3D Studio MAX. I used an AMT/ERTL model and various pictures I could find as a guide for
proportion and detail. I also used Adobe PhotoShop to further enhance the engine burn effect
on the Stardestroyer and for the lens flare effects. During the time I created these images I didn't
have very much experience with material mapping, hence the mapping on these ships leave a bit to be
desired. Some day, when I have more time, I may revise them.
All TrekWarz images were created using the same tools. Certain images
just took a little bit longer than others due to the lighting involved. Some time in the future I'd like to
create a new set of TrekWarz storyboards.
