Band Biography
Why Nine Inch Nails?!

Nine Inch Nails doesn't actually have any meaning as such. In the words
of Trent Reznor, "...Nine Inch Nails lasted the two-week test, looked
great in print, and could be abbreviated easily. It's a curse trying to come up with band names"
Nine Inch Nails past and present members are: Richard Patrick, Chris Vrenna,Woolley, Danny Lohner, Robin Fink, Jerome Dillon, Charlie Clouser And of course Trent Reznor
Nine Inch Nails was formed Following a period working in a Cleveland recording studio and playing  in local bands, by frontman Trent Reznor in 1988.
Pretty Hate Machine, written, played and co-produced by Reznor was mostly synthesizer-based. It was Nine Inch Nails first full album. Pretty Hate Machine went  triple-platinum, topped SoundScan's pop
catalog chart, and was named one of the "200 Albums Essential To Any
Rock Collection" (Rolling Stone).
In his earlier days though, Trent  was brought up on a diet of David Bowie,Lou Reed, Iggy Pop  But mostly, Kiss. He appears to have a strong dislike for "Pearl Jam"!
Trent started his own record label wich even includes as  popular of artists as Marilyn Manson.
The bands  US hit with 'Head Like A Hole',  brought  platinum status to
NIN.
The Fragile uses:slide guitar, violins, cellos, ukuleles, upright bass
Reznor didnt know how to play the ukuleles and slide guitar so made the
studio more of the instrument
Trent went to Los Angeles, to start building a studio in a rented house at 10050 Cielo Drive, which he later discovered was the place of
the Tate murders by the Manson family (much to his disgust, due to
eternal interview questions thereafter about the contribution of the
house's atmosphere to The Downward Spiral )
