Apodis is a start-up which is launching an anthology of near-future science-fiction short stories entitled "Goodbye, Darwin" as part of its inaugaural line.
Originally composed for the Jigsaw Nation anthology, "In Media Res Publica" takes place in a near-future United States where the divide between the blue states and the red states has become a political reality... but relations between the new neighbours are somewhat rocky. In many ways, the short story draws on contemporary experiences of divided countries such as the conflicts in the Middle-East to speculate as to what the landscape of an ideologically split United States might look like. The tale itself follows a media news room trying to uncover information about one of their reporters who has suddenly gone incommunicado on the other side of the border.
