Wisconsin. John TRESNER ran away from
home at age 17 and fought in the Mexican War (1846). He served under Major General Winfield Scott and Zachary Taylor in
Mexico City. He then went to the California Gold Rush in 1849.

2. George David TRESNER was born in 1857
in Sutter's Mill, California. He died
in 1938 in Sedro Wooley, Washington.
George David TRESNER's father came overland from Kansas to mine gold in
California. George's father took him to Wisconsin by boat via the Cape of Good
Horn. His father married his deceased
wife's sister. She was a mean
step-mother to
George and once threw
George's boots out in the snow. When
George was 4 years old he went to live with his uncle Mark Tooley.
Annie E. STRONG (daughter of Unknown SIMPSON) was born in 1860. She died in 1929 in Sedro Wooley,
Washington. Annie or Anna STRONG's
mother was a SIMPSON and was supposed to be a distant relative of Ulysses
Simpson Grant. According to Homer
TRESNER Anna was a third cousin of General Grant. George David TRESNER and Annie E. STRONG had the following

TRESNER, 91, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in Monroe Manor Nursing Home
where she had resided the past seven months. Old-age complications were
fatal. She had resided in Monroe several
years, moving from Darlington. The
former Eva Bell DUNBAR, was born Jan 2, 1876, in Darlington, a daughter of
James and Mary Jane
Dunbar. She was married April 28, 1897 in Darlington
to Harvey Tresner. They farmed in the
Darlington area before his death May 8, 1932.
Mrs. Tresner was a member of the Rebekah Lodge at Freeport. That group
is planning memorial services at the funeral home. Surviving are two sons, John
(Jack) Tresner, Bordhead, and Orville in California; a duaghter, Mrs. Tina
BECKE, Monroe, formerly Madison; a brother, Fred Dunbar, Hot springs, Ark.; 16
grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a son, Harry, in Coronado, Calif., on Sept. 2, 1968;
two daughters, in infancy; three brothers, Harvey, Tom and George, and four
sisters, Mrs. Cora Grubb, Mrs. Myrtle Holman, Mrs.
Stella Southwick, and Mrs.
Emah Fowler. Services will be at 3 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 30, in Stuessy Funeral Home.
Rev. R.H. Hale of the Nazarene Church is to officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetary,
Monroe. Friends may call at the funeral

born on June 22, 1889 in Ferry, MI.. She
died on October 24, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington. She was buried in New Tacoma Cemetery, Tacoma, Washington. I have more information on the FERRIS family

OBITUARY: (From Monroe, WI
newspaper) A former Monroe resident, John J. (jack) TRESNER, about 65, was
found dead Friday, April 9, in the bedroom of his small home in Brodhead. Gravside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday
in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington.
Rev. Robert Milde of the Monroe Bible church officiated. Stuessy Funeral Home of Monroe was in
charge. Green county coroner Richard Wagner ruled that death resulted from
natural causes and set the time as Sunday night, April 4. Mr. Tresner was at one time employed at
Studer's in Monroe. He had been in ill
health the past eight months. Surviving
are a son, James, and a daughter, Miss Evaline, both of Monroe and of a first
marriage, and a sister, Mrs. Tina Becker in California. His second wife, the former Della Komprood,
native of Darlington, died June 14, 1970.
Two brothers, Harry and Orville, are deceased.
He was married to Daisy A.
GIBBS (daughter of George GIBBS and Martha UNKNOWN) on February 26, 1927 in St
Paul, Minn.. Daisy A. GIBBS was
born on December 7, 1907 in Trimbelle Township, Pierce Co., Wisconsin. She died on September 21, 1970 in Monroe,

8:05 p.m. Monday, Sept 21, in St. Clare Hospital. She had been a patient there since April 25. The former Daisy Amellia GIBBS was born in
Trimbelle Township, Pierce County Dec. 7, 1907, a daughter of George and Martha
Gibbs. She attended schools of her home
area. On Feb 26, 1927 she was married
in St. Paul, Minn., to John Tresner. She had lived in Darlington before moving
to Monroe. she was employed a number of years at Crystal Tower. Mrs. Tresner
was a member of the United
Methodist church, the Woman's Relief Corps, and the G.U.G. Surviving are a son, James, Monroe; a
daughter, Evaline, at home; two brothers, Arthur Gibbs, Ellsworth, and Albert,
River Falls; and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Gangl, Western Spring, Ill., Mrs.
alfred Hobbs, Ellsworth, and Mrs. Eleanor Berfelz, Rvier Falls. She was preceded in death by a son, John, in
infancy; her father, Dec 18 1946, and her mother, May 1, 1963. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept.
24, in the Stuessy Funeral Home. Rev.
Harold Crume of the United Methodist is to officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. She was buried on September 24, 1970 in Greenwood Cemetery,

Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
