She was married to William SKELTON on October 13, 1865.

 

16.  Mary Jane TRESNER was born on December 16, 1836 in Putnam County, Indiana.  She was buried in December 1916 in Clifty, Madison Co., Arkansas.  She died on December 17, 1916 in Clifty, Madison Co., Arkansas.  Mary Jane is the older sister of Phillip Nelson Tresner.  She married Henry Hart who owned the Hart Mill in Hevin, Kansas.  Henry Hart was the first postmaster appointed to Hart's Mill in October 1872. The Mill was used by Indian’s at that time to camp.

 

She was married to James Henry HART (son of William HART and Eleanor TWEEDY) on December 17, 1863 in Clays Prairie, Illinois.  James Henry HART was born on December 16, 1820.  He died in 1901 in Clifty, Madison Co., Arkansas.  He was buried in Clifty, Madison Co., Arkansas.  Mary Jane TRESNER and James Henry HART had the following children:

18.  Morgan Bellisfield TRESNER was born about 1843 in Missouri.  He died before 1877 in Chautauqua, Kansas.  Morgan TRESNER served in the Civil War.

 

He was married to Rebecca ALSPAW.  Morgan Bellisfield TRESNER and Rebecca ALSPAW had the following children:

19.  William Henry Harrison (Buck) TRESNER was born in 1843 in Cedar, Wright County, Missouri.  He died on February 28, 1898 in Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas.  He was buried in Wise Cemetery, Winchester, Kansas.  William Henry Harrison TRESNER lived with his family in Edgar County, Illinois until he joined Co. K, 59th Regiment of the Illinois Infantry, on Sept 28, 1864 serving during the Civil War as a private. His brother Morgan B. F. TRESNER also joined the same day.  On June 14, 1865 they were both mustered out of the army in Nashville, Tennessee.  After the Civil War he moved to Kansas and married Nancy Ann HUNSUCKER.  They made their home in Winchester, Jefferson County near Nancy Ann's mother and grandparents, the HOUSHES and HUNSUCKERS. All of their children were born in Kansas except James Phillip, he was born in Missouri.  In 1980, William H.H. became ill with a lung disease and was no longer able to work.  He was granted a pension of $8.00.

 

He was married to Nancy Ann HUNSUCKER (daughter of James HUNSUCKER  and Sarah Ann (Sally) HOUSH) on October 11, 1873 in Elk Falls, Howard Co., Kansas.  Nancy Ann HUNSUCKER was born on August 12, 1855 in Missouri.  She was buried in 1932 in Wise Cemetery, Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas.  She died on December 27, 1932 in Tuttle, Grady Co., Oklahoma.  After William H.H. TRESNER's death Nancy Ann had the four youngest children to provide for but found she could not and went to Ellsworth, Kansas where they lived in the Bickerdyke Home for Civil War Widows and Orphans.  Nancy Ann worked as a seamstress and Elizabeth served as a nurse's assistant.  Elizabeth was 14 at this time.  When Nancy Ann left the Bickerdyke Home, she took Ell, Frank and Albert to Yukon, Oklahoma and made her home near her son, James Phillip and his family. Both Frank and Albert were in World War I.  After the war Nancy Ann and Henry moved to Washington, County, Arkansas.  Hiram was there part of the time.  Then about 1926 Nancy Ann bought property in Grady County, Oklahoma.  Henry lovingly cared for her until her death.  William Henry Harrison (Buck) TRESNER and Nancy Ann HUNSUCKER had the following children:

            48                     ii.    Hiram Thomas TRESNER was born on December 24, 1877.  He died on December 6, 1930 in Chickasha, Grady Co., Oklahoma.  He was buried in Apache Cemetery, Caddo Co., Oklahoma.

            51                     v.    Sarah Ellen TRESNER was born on April 19, 1885.  She died in 1914.  She was buried in Apache Cemetery, Caddo Co., Oklahoma.

            52                    vi.    Jacob Fredrick TRESNER was born in March 1889 in Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas.  He died on May 16, 1890 in Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas.  He was buried in Wise Cemetery, Winchester, Kansas.

            54                  viii.    Louis Albert "Bert" TRESNER was born on July 24, 1894 in Winchester, Jefferson Co., Kansas.  He died in October 1919 in WWII, France.  Louis Albert died during WWI in France.  He was buried on December 9, 1919 in Wise Cemetery, Winchester, Kansas.

 

20.  Charity Elizabeth TRESNER was born about 1846 in Missouri.

22.  Phillip Nelson TRESNER was born on May 4, 1851 in Putnam County, Indiana.  He died on January 8, 1937 in Peru, Chautauqua Co., Kansas.  Dorothy JONES has a copy of the death certificate for Philip Nelson TRESNER.  He was buried on January 11, 1937 in Hewins Cemetery, Kansas.

 

He was married to Rozina Ann WINCHELL (daughter of Levi WINCHELL and Harriet WINN ) on July 19, 1875 in Nashville, Barton, MO..  Rozina and Phillip Nelson eloped and lived at the Henry Hart home. Husband of Mary Jane Tresner.  Nathan Fay TRESNER stated date of marriage was July 19, 1875 in Nashville, MO.  There may be confusion because they eloped.  Dorothy JONES shows record of marriage: Bk A, pg 136, Barton Co., MO.  Rozina Ann WINCHELL was born on March 2, 1859 in Henry Co., Illinois.  She died on January 10, 1945 in Sedan, Kansas.  She was buried on January 12, 1945 in Hewins Cemetery, Hewins, Kansas.  Phillip Nelson TRESNER and Rozina Ann WINCHELL had the following children:

23.  Laura Marie TRESNER was born on April 13, 1853 in Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana.  She died on December 25, 1943 in Wyman, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Cause of death was pneumonia.  She was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.

 

She was married to Benjamin Napoleon WOOD (son of Edward WOOD  and Mary BOONE ) about December 10, 1872 in Peru, Kansas.  They were married by Rev. Stephen Holroyd, a Baptist minister.  Benjamin Napoleon WOOD was born on January 1, 1850 in Jackson County, Missouri.  He died on October 10, 1927 in Wyman, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Death was due to Chronic rheumatism, Chronic bronchitis, Myocarditis.  He was buried on October 11, 1927 in Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Benjamine WOOD enlisted in Company "D" 19th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry on Oct 17, 1868 in Clinton, Douglas County, Kansas.  The 19th Cavalry was mustered into service on the 20th of Oct 1868.  The regiment

contained 1,200 men.  It left Topeka, Kansas on Nov 5, 1868, for the Indian country.  On the 14th it crossed the Arkansas River, and on the 28th joined General Sheridan on the North Canadian.  He fought in this campaign against the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Kiowas and Commanches in Kansas, Colorado and Indian Territory from 1868 to 1869.  He was discharged at Ft. Hayes, Kansas on April 18, 1869.  In 1870 he went to Hart's Mill where he met Laura Marie TRESNER.

 

In 1881 Benjamine received a Land Patent, the original land platt of Washington County, Arkansas shows Benjamine Napoleon WOOD as the original owner of 80 acres; the North Half of the South East Quarter of Section Fifteen in Township Sixteen North of Range twenty-nine West of the fifth Principal Meridan in Arkansas.  The Patent was given by Grover Cleveland, President of the United States and filed for record Oct 17, 1904 in Vol. 107 Page 374 in the office of the Circuit Clerks Office.

 

From 1910 to 1916 the Sydenham Post Office was located in Laura and Ben's home on Round Mountain.  The Post Mistress was their daughter Fannie,, until the mail was moved to Harris in 1916.  They also ran a small general store and farmed on their 80 acres.  Laura Marie TRESNER and Benjamin Napoleon WOOD had the following children:

 

            71                      i.    Lucy A. WOOD was born on September 19, 1873 in Howard, Kansas.  She died on September 25, 1873 in Howard, Kansas.

            72                     ii.    Fannie Scranton WOOD was born on November 18, 1874 in Howard, Chautauqua County, Kansas.  She died on March 26, 1957 in Washington County, Arkansas.  She was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Fannie was the Post Mistress of Sydenham Post Office from 1910-1916

                                            when the mail moved to Harris.

            76                    vi.    Claud Atlee WOOD was born on December 7, 1884 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He died on February 14, 1925 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington, Co., Arkansas.

            77                   vii.    Peter Benjamin WOOD was born on February 10, 1888 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He died on January 7, 1953 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.

                                            DANIEL BOONE. Ben Wood served in the 19th Kansas Cav. Co. 19 during

                                            the Indiana Wars.

            80                     x.    Clayton McKinley WOOD was born on April 14, 1896 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He died on November 5, 1897 in Washington County, Arkansas.  He was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.

 

24.  Hiram Hamilton (Ham) TRESNER was born on March 13, 1854 in Putnam County, Indiana.  Birth date may be 19 Mar 1855, according to Linda RUDD.  He died on January 31, 1930 in Rivera, California.  He was buried on January 31, 1930 in Rivera, California.  Hiram Hamilton TRESNER moved to California with his wife May LIERLY in a wagon.

 

He was married to Ida May LIERLY in 1885 in Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Ida May LIERLY was born on November 23, 1871.  She died on December 15, 1924.  She was buried in Round Mountain Cemetery, Round Mountain, Washington Co., Arkansas.  Hiram Hamilton (Ham) TRESNER and Ida May LIERLY had the following children:

27.  Philip M. (Phil) TRESNER was born on April 24, 1846 in Putnam County, Indiana.  He died on January 12, 1906 in Oklahoma.  Philip M. TRESNER moved to Edgar County, Illinois in 1861 with his parents.  Vina Luck separated from Philip M. in 1897 or 1899 and went to Oklahoma and lived with her daughter for several years.  In 1903 Philip M. married Sarah BISHOP.  Philips health was bad so hoping that he would benefit by the change of climate they moved to Oklahoma. Sarah BISHOP TRESNER moved to Decatur, Illinois when Philip M. died.

 

He was married to Vina LUCK on October 22, 1874 in Edgar County, Illinois.  He was divorced from Vina LUCK between 1897 and 1899.  Vina LUCK was born on March 8, 1853.  She died on January 20, 1927 in Greenwood, Iowa.  After Vina LUCK separated from Philip M. TRESNER, she moved to Oklahoma and lived with her daughter for several years. She died there at her daughter’s house. Her daughter was married to J. F. Ackerman.

 

He was married to Sarah BISHOP in 1903 in Edgar County, Illinois.

 

28.  Charity E. (Ella) TRESNER was born on April 9, 1848 in Putnam County, Indiana.  She died on June 30, 1943.  Charity E. (Ella) TRESNER moved to Edgar County, Illinois in 1861 with her parents.  After her husbands death, she lived alone in her home in Murdock, Illinois, until Jun 1918, when her brother made his home with her until his death in May 1919. She then went to Missouri to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B.O. FARRIS.  In Aug

1923, she went to Illinois to attend the school reunion at Clays Prairie and stayed in Illinois and Indiana until 23 Dec 1926.  She came back to Missouri in 1926 to her sister's home and on 22 Jun 1928, she had a paralysis, which left her an invalid.  She lived with her sister until her sister's death and after that made her home with her sister's children.

 

She was married to Henry THOMAS (son of Evan THOMAS and Harriet LOVELESS ) on April 9, 1894 in Douglas County, Illinois.  Henry THOMAS was born on November 21, 1853 in Park County, Indiana.  He died on December 12, 1917 in Douglas County, Illinois.

 

29.  Peter H. TRESNER was born on July 14, 1850 in Putnam County, Indiana.  He died on May 11, 1921 in Topeka, Kansas.  Peter H. Tresner moved to Kansas in 1883. In the 1880 Census Peter was listed in Edgar County, Illinois as a Carpenter.

 

Ora Tresner, Peter's nice was also listed as part of the household during the 1880 census taken in February 1880.

 

He was married to Sarah E. KNIGHT (daughter of John KNIGHT and Emmaline UNKNOWN ) in 1878 in Edgar Co., Illinois.  Sarah E. KNIGHT was born on August 30, 1852 in Vigo County, Indiana.  She died on July 12, 1914 in Topeka, Kansas.  Peter H. TRESNER and Sarah E. KNIGHT had the following children:

30.  William Morgan (Will) TRESNER was born on January 27, 1853 in Putnam County, Indiana.  He died on August 14, 1933 in Edgar County, Illinois.  He was buried in Payne Cemetery, Brocton, Illinois.  William M. TRESNER moved to Edgar County, Illinois in 1861 with his parents. In the 1880 census William was listed as a Farmer in Edgar County, Illinois.

 

Also in the 1880 census George W. Tresner was listed as part of the household.

 

He was married to Nancy A. FOLTZ (daughter of David FOLTZ and Levisa OTT ) between January 17, 1873 and 1875 in Edgar County, Illinois.  Nancy A. FOLTZ was born on February 19, 1855 in Vermillion County, Illinois.  She died on December 10, 1925 in Edgar County, Illinois.  Date of death for Nancy FOLTZ may be 10 Dec 1925, Edgar Co., Ill,

according to Dorothy JONES.  She was buried in Payne Cemetery, Brocton, Illinois.  William Morgan (Will) TRESNER and Nancy A. FOLTZ had the following children:

31.  George W. TRESNER was born in 1855 in Park County, Indiana.  He died on January 1, 1942 in Park County, Indiana.  He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.  George W. Tresner moved to Edgar County, Illinois in 1861 with his parents. In the 1880 census George was listed as living with his brother William M. Tresner in Edgar County, Illinois.

 

He was married to Martha E. HOBBS (daughter of Richard HOBBS and Ester WESTBROOK ) on September 30, 1880 in Edgar County, Illinois.  Martha E. HOBBS was born on March 22, 1859 in Putnam County, Indiana.  She died in December 1939 in Park County, Indiana.  George W. TRESNER and Martha E. HOBBS had the following children:

33.  Laura E. "Libbie" TRESNER was born on April 15, 1866 in Edgar County, Illinois.  She died on September 6, 1936 in Monroe County, Missouri.  Laura E. Tresner and husband moved to Douglas County, Illinois in 1889

and moved to Monroe County, Missouri on 8 Jan, 1909.

 

She was married to Benjamin O. FARRIS (son of Benjamin FARRIS and Martha HUNTER) on September 24, 1882 in Edgar County, Illinois.  Benjamin O. FARRIS was born on January 25, 1863 in Edgar County, Illinois.  He died on June 26, 1935 in Monroe County, Missouri.

 

34.  Sarah M. "Sadie" TRESNER was born on May 30, 1869 in Edgar County, Illinois.  She died on August 4, 1906 in Chillicothe, Missouri.

 

She was married to George B. JONES on October 15, 1885 in Edgar County, Illinois.  She was divorced from George B. JONES in 1896.  George B. JONES was born in 1850 in West Virginia.  He died on January 9, 1896 in Mattoon, Illinois.

 

She was married to James BENNETT Dr. (son of Philip B. BENNETT  and Ellen WRIGHT ) on December 11, 1898 in Danville, Illinois.  James BENNETT Dr. was born in 1872 in Edgar County, Illinois.  Sarah M. "Sadie" TRESNER and James BENNETT Dr. had the following children:
