Jason Stewart "Tasker": The 2007 Interview Interview Conducted by Emmanual T Webster |
|||||
1. Jason, what do you remember about shooting "The Trespassers" all those years ago?
I remember the property being infested by black flies and mosquitoes. Also the heat of the day was very uncomfortable. There was lots of beer flowing, so we really didn’t mind the problems. I also remember the hard work from everyone involved. 2. Your character is probably best remembered as the "anti-hero" of The Trespassers. How close was your character "Tasker" to the real Jason? I’m not nearly as verbally brave as Tasker, but he’s a great character to play. 3. Does it really seem like it's been 16 years since you were in The Trespassers? Sometimes it seems like only yesterday, that is until I think of all the things I’ve done since that time. 4. Was it hard to play both actor and director of the film? Not really. Darrick acted as co-director for much of the time, so it was really a team effort. 5. How did it feel to revisit the film location fifteen years later? Very surreal, quite haunting. I knew it was the same place, yet didn’t expect it to look THAT bad. I’m glad I went though. It reaffirmed my love for the saga. 6. What are your new film projects? Currently two projects. A documentary entitled, HorrorFan- The Movie! And my dream project, Trespassers- Renegade Homecoming; a direct sequel to the original! 7. What's your take on the new generation of indie-film makers? Don’t dream it, do it! Who cares if you don’t have the funding to make the film perfect? Make something while the passion is still there. There are so many dreamers out there who have nothing to show for their talents. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words! 8. What are your interests these days? Cult and horror films, rock ‘n roll, playing backgammon, webpage design and coming up with my next big project! 9. What does it feel like to reprise your Trespassers role in the sequel? Like I’m going on a date with an old girlfriend. I’m automatically thrust back into the part. It’s fun to revisit an old friend. I love playing John Tasker! 10. How do you feel about hearing from your old co-stars after all these years? Never say never! The internet (particularly Facebook) has brought the world closer. I never thought I’d reconnect with my old friends. It’s even better the second time around. We’re a little older now, yet some things never change. When I left Bracebridge in ’93, some of us were on bad terms, so it’s great to finally make peace and start new memories. 11. How difficult was the process of bringing the film on DVD for a new generation to enjoy? Surprisingly not too difficult. The dawn of the digital era has done wonders for the editing process. Now the film can be shown the way it was meant to be seen, without the limitations of videotape. 12. One final question, what can you say to fans of your part in a little indie movie called "The Trespassers"? Keep in touch! I know the future looks great for the saga. Personally, I thing the biggest story has yet to be told! |
