Trevor  Updates!!!
(As of: 08/99!)
It's about time I did another update..... don't ya think?!

Trevor is doing absolutely wonderful!!!  He is now just over 30 pounds and plumping up great.  He is still on the tube feeds through a bard-button and doing fine on them.  He most likely will be on tube feeds for quite some time due to his severe refulx and aspiration.  The most trouble we seem to ever have is with his refulx and allergies.  We have been fortunate enough to stay away from the hospitals and are very grateful for that.  He just got new glasses which he likes cause they have a special sunglass clip-on.  He also is starting Developmental Preschool this year.  He's growing up so fast!  In the last few months we've been preparing for school by getting him a wheelchair - which was much needed.  He still can't walk, but can pull himself to an unsteady stand holding on to something.  He also practices using a mini-walker.  His left hand is still the weak one, though he uses it more than he did.  He made me so proud the other day when he picked up a beach ball and brought it me using both hands.  He still doesn't talk, but he does use a speaking board sometimes - mostly when he wants to watch a video.  He is very bright in the fact that he picks up on things very quickly and figures out ways to communicate with you.  He is now in the habit (I think he picked up from me) of turning off his fishes (a light/music toy hooked to his crib) before I get him out of bed.  That's one thing we are going to start working on after the first of the year - transitioning to a "big-boy" bed.  Basically, here is his current rundown (please excuse the spelling):

Cerebral Palsy - Perinventricular Leukomasia
Mild Mental Retardation
Retinopathy Of Prematurity - with permanent loss of perifial vision (has had 2 surgeries so far)
Brochopulmonary Dysplasia (which is severely affecting his lungs)
Reactive Airway Disease (fancy name for asthma)
Gastroesophageal Reflux
Aspiration

With all of this he is still the happiest kid ever!  He brightens my day without question.  He is my hero in life and always will be - I admire him with great respect and am his biggest fan.  I hope all of you out there in web-land are doing well.  We thank you for stopping by and keeping tabs on Trevor.  Please feel free to e-mail me anytime with questions you might have in regard to Trevor or any of what we have experienced.  We love to try and help those who have questions we might be able to answer.  Take care and stop back again!
