The Burial
The icy rain hit Jennifer like a thousand needles against her skin. She cringed and walked on, making her way to Cerulean City. In her arms was a small,
baby Pokémon. It was an Oddish, and it probably wasn't going to make it.
Jennifer held it closer to her, trying to keep it warm. She knew the odds were against it, but still she had hope it would live. She reached the Pokémon
Center, but since it was night time the lights were dim.
She went in anyway,
knowing SOMEBODY had to be there. There was a sleeping Chansey in the waiting room chair, and there was a Nurse Joy sleeping next to it. Jennifer shook Joy
violently.
"Wha wha what???" she said half asleep. "My Oddish is dying, please try to help it!" Jennifer said trying not to cry. Joy carefully took Oddish from
Jennifer.
"I can try to save it, but as you can see it's clinging to life," Joy said.
"Do whatever you can, please!" Jennifer said. "I will, just wait here."
Jennifer waited for hours. Then Joy came out, carrying poor little Oddish in a blanket.
"I... I'm sorry miss. Your Oddish didn't make it," Joy said, handing the Oddish to Jennifer. She let out a great cry.
"You may stay here for the
night, it's too stormy out to go back to wherever you came from. I suggest you get some sleep, though. What is your name again?" Joy asked.
"Jennifer... have you seen a girl with short brown hair and brown eyes? Goes by the name of Amy?"
Jennifer asked. Joy shook her head.
"No, I'm sorry, I haven't," she said, then
left the room.
"Come out, Azizah," Jennifer said as she set her Pokéball on the ground.
Azizah, her Vileplume, came out and gave her a happy greeting. Jennifer looked down and put Oddish on the floor. Vileplume looked at Oddish, then at
Jennifer, then back at the Oddish.
"Yes, Azy, that's your daughter. I'm sorry,"
Jennifer said. "Come out, Matt," she said as she sat one of her other Pokéballs on the floor.
Matt came out and he and Azizah talked for a minute. He looked at Jennifer.
"Yes, it's not a lie. I'm sorry... We're taking her to Lavender Town tomorrow," Jennifer said as she lay her head down on the pillow Nurse Joy had given her.
Jennifer was an Oddish breeder. She had 2 Vileplume, 1 Gloom, and an Oddish, but now went back to 2 Vileplume and a Gloom. She also had a Flareon,
mainly for protection.
The next morning, she got Matt and Azizah back into their Pokéballs and set off to Lavender Town, where she would bury Oddish in the Pokémon Tower. She didn't have a name, but Jennifer decided to name her Oddie.
Before she reached Lavender Town, a familiar voice was heard.
"Simone?" she called.
"Yeah?" Simone said, popping out of the bush. She was followed by two other people.
"Jesse and James? What are YOU two doing here?" Jennifer asked.
"We're here 'cuz Simone's here!" James said.
"Oh really?" Jennifer said. She laughed to herself. "Have you seen Amy?" Jennifer asked Simone.
"No, I haven't seen her for days. You're her partner, shouldn't I be the one asking you?"
Simone answered. She then looked at the blanket in Jennifer's arms.
"Azy and Matt's kid?" she asked, pointing to it. Jennifer nodded her head.
She unwrapped the blanket and handed Oddie to Simone. Simone looked at her, sighed, and started handing her back to Jennifer, when some kid's voice said,
"Hey! What are you doing with that Oddish? You guys killed it, didn't you? You killed that girl's Oddish!" Simone, Jennifer, Jesse, and James all looked up the path.
"Ash, why don't you just leave? We didn't kill her Oddish okay it was sick and it died, so leave yourself outta it you stupid little brat! I see all your little
friends left you, I can see why. Where's your stupid little yellow friend?" Jesse said.
"That's no business of yours, Jesse!" Ash said, striking his pose with his fist high.
"We don't want to battle a pathetic loser like you, Ash, now let us go to Lavender Town to bury Jennifer's Oddish before I do decide to trample your stupid little butt with my powerful Pokémon!" Simone said.
She played with the silver-colored Masterball in her hand, the one containing her Mewtwo. She reached into her pocket, and held her gold Masterball up for Ash to see.
It contained her Mew. He knew that Mew could only be kept in a golden Masterball, and he knew you could only catch it at a very high level. He ran away.
"Scaredy cat," Jennifer yelled as he ran down the road. They walked on. They reached the Pokémon Tower, and Jennifer asked for a place to bury her Oddie.
The boy behind the counter led them to the elevator. They went up a few stories, then stopped. He showed them where they could bury Oddish. They thanked
him.
Jennifer lay Oddie down in her grave, and stuck a sign near it. She said a prayer for Oddish and walked away, followed by Jesse, James, and Simone.
