The Great Pokemon Adventure Part-3

Chapter Five

When Eric woke up it was broad daylight. He glanced at the Poke-house and he saw that Pikachu was still sleeping. Eric got up and took a swim for a while. When Pikachu got up it joined him. Then Eric got dressed and they went down for breakfast.

Eric had his favorite cereal "Cocoa Geodudes", orange juice, and a hard-boiled egg. Pikachu had a bowl of milk and electric Pokefood, called Chu Chow.

After breakfast Eric went over to the Pokemon Center and reserved a room for the time when he would get back to Viridian. Then he got to the Pokemart.

"Hey, young man!" the clerk called to him. Eric turned and went over to him. "Do you come from Pallet Town?"

"Yeah."

"Well then, take this package to Professor Oak. It's a new Pokeball prototype from Silph Co. Called a 'Masterball' or something. The rubbish these guys think up.

"Okay, I'll take it."

"You'd better, because until I get a call from the Professor saying that you delivered it, you aren't allowed to buy anything here or go to the Viridian Forest."

"Alright already. I get the picture."

With the package, he walked at full speed towards Pallet Town, but increasing his training program with Pikachu to fighting 40 Pokemon a day. Because it now needed a higher amount of Exp. Points, at Pallet it had only grown 3 levels, to level 13, but had learned Quick Attack.

"There's Pallet Town, Pikachu. And my rival, Richard, will stop at nothing to defeat me." Pikachu yawned.

Pika chu chu. Pika kachu." Had Eric been able to interpret Pikanese, he would have known that Pikachu was saying,

Stop being so melodramatic. It's getting boring." Eric headed for Professor Gary Oak's lab, walked up to it, and rang the doorbell. There was a crash, a loud

"Owwwwwwwwww!" followed by a string of curses, and then the door opened. Eric walked in and saw a bunch of boxes on the floor, one of them open, and Pokeballs all over the floor. Professor Oak was also on the floor, rubbing his back.

"A shipment of Pokemon for the trainers starting next month",he muttered in explanation. "20 of each type of Pokemon, rated by first type (for those of you who can't multiply in their heads, 15 types times 20 of each type equals 300 Pokemon). Since there aren't 300 different Pokemon, I get more than one of the popular ones. It seems like Eevee is all the rage today. I must have 18 of them!"

"Uh,Professor," Eric said, helping Oak up, "I have something for you."

"Well now, let's see that." Eric handed the package over to Professor Oak.

"The clerk called it a Masterball." he added."

"Oh yes." the Professor said. "The president of Silph sent it. He wanted me to make sure it works. Supposedly, it has a homing system and a hypnosis effect activates once the Pokemon is inside. It guarantees capture!"

"Wow!" Eric said, enraptured. "But wouldn't that throw off the spirit of battling, if you could capture any Pokemon instantly?"

"Hmmm, that's a good point, Eric." Oak reflected. Then he shook it off. "Eric, Look at the time, You should get going."

"Bye, Professor." Eric called. But as he walked out the door he got a nasty shock; and it wasn't from Pikachu."

"Why, what a surprise." Richard remarked sarcastically. "And his baby Pikachu."

"Piiiiiiiiiii!"

"So the little mouse wants to fight. I can live with that." Taking a Pokeball out, he kissed it before he threw it. "Go, Diglett!"

Eric's sharp ears heard Professor Oak chuckling softly. You could just catch a glimpse of its four large digging claws before they disappeared underground.

"Eric chooses, Pikachu!"

Now Professor Oak wasn't just chuckling, he was laughing his head off.

"Diglett, use Sand Attack!"

"Diglett." The mole-like Pokemon threw clumps of dirt at Pikachu. Luckily for it, they were close packed, and Pikachu was able to break them up into little pieces with its tail.

"Quick Attack now!"

Pikachu sparkled for a moment, than disappeared. Suddenly, Diglett was hit by something, and Pikachu reappeared about 20 feet behind it.

"Diglett, diiiiiig." Diglett moaned.

Diglett, time for Dig!" Richard commanded. It dug underground. Eric racked his brains for some sort of plan. Then, a voice told him something in his head.

"Pikachu, when I say now, jump and land with your head down, got it?

Pikachu nodded. Than the same voice said one word.

"Now!" Eric shouted. At the precise moment Pikachu jumped, Diglett popped out of the ground, little eyes searching for Pikachu. Then Pikachu landed and Diglett, since Pikachu had fallen on its head, blacked out.

"Diiiigleeeeet." Pikachu was not without injuries itself. The amount of moaning it made, holding its head, suggested that it had a skull fracture. Eric rushed over to it and picked it up.

"Pikachu, you did great. Now, get in the ball and Professor Oak will be able to heal you."

After much protesting, Pikachu got into his Pokeball and Eric handed it to the Professor to heal. Oak put the ball into a little machine on the wall, similar to the one that is used in Pokemon Centers.

Meanwhile, Richard returned Diglett and went home, muttering something about getting a Town Map from his big sister. After Pikachu was better, they went to Richard's house to see about the Town Map. Richard's sister, who had a crush on Eric, gave a copy to him, and blushed so hard that her cheeks looked like a Pikachu's.

Then Eric set off once more to Viridian City.
