Ever since the day we said goodbye.
It had been a year since the horrible explosion at Rocket Head Quarters. A year since Jessie had died. James sat in a chair looking out the window into the stormy night. Meowth was asleep at his feet with his paws wrapped around a ball of yarn.
He hadn't talked much since Jessie's death, but then again James hadn't been the cheeriest companion either. As he looked down at the small cat he thought about how sad he would he would be if he lost him too. Then he looked at the picture of Jessie that was hanging on the wall and his sadness was born anew and tears came to his eyes as he remembered his last moments with her beside a hospital bed.
He cursed himself when he remembered he had told her not to come with him with he left Head Quarters the day of the explosion and as a result he had lived and she had not. If I wasn't such a fool

James stood up careful not to wake up Meowth and walked out the door. He walked through the woods toward town quietly so no one noticed him. After maybe a mile of walking he came to a small fenced in piece of land. He walked over and slowly opened the gates and stepped inside. He walked up a hill and sat down on a rock beside Jessie's tombstone. He sadly pulled out a small white rose and put it on the grave only to watch it be carried off by the wind.

He sat there quietly for a few moments then he pulled out a picture of Jessie. As he looked at memories flooded his mind. Like the time she had refused to abandon him on the St. Ann and the time she had went up against a Gastly who had put a spell on him. As he remembered these he got sadder and sadder and then he remembered the big fight they had gotten into just hours before she died and he started to cry.

James sat there and in time Meowth found him there.
"Are ya all right?" Meowth asked concerned. James shook his head.
"Do ya want ta talk about it?" Meowth asked climbing onto a nearby rock. James shook his head.
"Come on tell Meowth what's wrong" Meowth said gently.
"It's just that the last time I saw her we were fighting and I never got to tell her how I feel" James said. Meowth put a paw on his knee and jumped down
"I'll leave ya alone for awhile kay" He said. James nodded and Meowth left.
