Emily Knauff Memorial
Agriculture College Scholarship Award Application Guidelines
1.   The purpose of this scholarship award is to assist a graduating high school senior in   pursing
      a college degree in an agriculture related career. This award is in memory of Emily Ann                 Knauff, Peebles High School OVCTC 2002 graduate who died in a car accident on April 12th,        2003. Emily was involved in 4-H and FFA. She attended Southern State Community College in       agriculture studies 2002-2003.

2.   There will be on scholarship offered per year to be awarded in May. The amount of the award        may vary, dependent on funds available. The amount of the 2004 award will be $1,000 (non-         renewable).

3.   ELIGIBLITY
     The applicant must:
     
A.  Have particicpated in and succesfully completed an Adams County 4-H project, having                  recieved a grade A, for the past two consecutive years, or have received the FFA                          Greenhand degree, and Chapter Farmer degree.
     
B.  The recipent must select an accredited college or university that offers vocational                         agriculture training.
     
C.  The recipent shall be chosen by a selction committee who will review the following                       criteria:
              1.)  Grade point average 3.0 or better
              2.)  Participation in 4-H and/or FFA in Adams County Junior Fair, for two years prior to                      graduation.
              3.)  Application form complete and properly submitted, with all requirements met.
              4.)  A 200-300 word essay, explaining why you would like to receieve this scholarship,                       your plans for your college career, and your future in agriculture.
     
D.  Three references from the following list:
               1.)  Adams County 4-H Extension agent
               2.)  FFA Vo-Ag teacher from graduation high school
               3.)  High School Principal from graduating high school
               4.)  Pastor, Minister, or Youth group leader
               5.)  Boy Scout / Girl Scout leader from the last two years prior to graduation
               6.)  Guidance Counselor from graduating high school
               7.)  High School Biology/Chemistry teacher from graduating high school.
      
E.  Financial need, character, and school citizenship will be considered.

4.   APPLICATION
      Forms may be obtained at the Adams County Fair in July, the 4-H Extension office from                August threw April, and high school guidance counselors September threw April. Completed         forms, essays, and references
must be submitted by the end of the last school day of               April.

.   SELECTION AND AWARD
      a.   The scholarship recipient will be selected by a panel composed of the following:
                1.  A member of the 4-H advisory board, appointed 4-H advisor
                2.  A FFA adult member who has earned the Chapter Farmer Degree
                3.  Three members of the Emily Knauff Scholarship committee. There will be one                              member of the scholarship committee serving as chairperson.
     b.   The scholarship committee may elect to interview candidates in further discernment is                   necessary.
     c.   This award may be split by two reciepts ($500 each). The scholarship committee reserves             the right to split the award if they so choose.
     d.   The selection will be complete one week prior to the announcement of the award. The                   scholarship will be presented by the chairperson of the scholarship committee at the                      recipient's High School Commencement Ceremony.

6.   DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS
      a.   The scholarship money will be paid in a lump sum directly to the educational institution                 where the recipient is enrolled. The money will be paid upon recipient of a request for                    payment from the educational institution. The request for payment should be issured to:

    b.   The award will be issued after the successful completion of one term at the college or                    university, and must be used within one calendar year after high school graduation.
     c.   If for any reason, part of the awarded funds are not used as proposed, the award amount              must be returned to the scholarshipfund comittee, contingent upon the refund policy of the            education institution.
