Not Today
By Emily's cousin Nichole
So here we are; another day, another sorrow
Apart, together...
"Hey Em, I will see you tomorrow."
She turned and said, "I will see you later."
What did she mean? When? Now?
Not today and not tomorrow
Not the next day, or the next
She's gone now. Not coming back.
Not today and not tomorrow
She's left us all; she is up in heaven
When we'll see her, we don't know
But not today and not tomorrow
Maybe someday, but not now.
She's Got Her Wings
By One of Emily and Nichole's friend
She's up there now,
Watching over us
As we go on with our lives
We want her
Down here with us
But we know that

She's got her wings
And we can't turn back the clock
In heaven she sleeps
With the stars as her blanket
Her eyes,
Peaking over the clouds
To watch over us as we say our prayers
And crawl into bed

She's got her wings

She's got her wings now
And a halo on her head
We know she is watching us
Miss her,
We always will.
But she will forever live in our hearts
And be with us in every part of our lives.
You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close you eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she's gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back,
or you can do what she'd want,
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
"My Parents are Survivors"
My parents are survivors, or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear them crying at night, when all others are in bed.
I watch them lay awake at night, and go to hold hands.
They do not know I'm with them, to help them understand.
But like the sands on the beach, that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving parents, who think of me each day.
They wear a smile for others...a smile of disguise!
Through Heaven's door I see them...tears flowing from their eyes.
My parents try to cope with death, to keep my memory alive.
Anyone who truly knows them, knows it is their way to survive.
As I watch over my surviving parents, through Heaven's open door...
I try to tell them that angels protect me forevermore.
I know that does not help them, or ease the burden that they bear.
If you get a chance...go visit them...and show them that you care.
